Its my understanding you can install xbox 360 games to your hard drive and play them with out the disc.

So is there anything stopping you from renting the games out and installing them, then keeping the game on the hd when the game goes back?

2nd question say i rent a game out am i free to play it online or are there like cd keys with the games.

Unfortunately not. You can install them to the hard drive, but you still need to have the disc in the drive to play them.

And you can play rented games online - assuming you have a Gold live account.

Yeah you need the discs in to verify that you still have the game and haven't just rented it or are borrowing it. :p

Was never gonna be that easy with MS* was it now?? ;)

* I do of course realise that no 'sensible' company would allow anything of this type either so, for balance, neither does the PS3...boo Sony :p

I don't want to create a new thread but is it worth installing games and play them from hard drive? My hdd is only 20gb so i need an upgrade which is not cheap to 60gb or 120gb as I have only like 1gb space left and couldn't test loading times etc.

Is there a huge loading time improvement?

Also is the disk spinning all the time or only when it checks that the game you wanna play is in the drive as my optical drive makes a lot of noise.

It depends on what games. Forza 3 was PAINFULLY slow with the disk for me. Put it on the HDD and i reckon its a good 30-40% quicker. The disk i think spins at the begging when booting up and thats about it.

the disks just spins to check you have the game then it spins down. load times aren't hugely improved on but I think its noticeable. the main thing is that you have a silent/close to quiet 360 while playing games without the DVD drive spinning up.

Ive just bought a 120gb drive for £85 to upgrade my old and full 20gb drive

Thanks guys, I'm going to order 60gb starter pack for £50 which is a good price imo. I need new headset as the old one doesn't work anymore and 3month gold membership is nice as well to consider this for £50.
