xbox 360 reduced price

How long do you think until the price drops reasonably significantly for *** xbox 360 to around £200
After the PS3 launch, perhaps spring 2007 in my opinion.

Can't see it happening until possibly towards the end of the year. MS have invested tons into the 360 and will be at a loss for quite sometime. Gaming, XBL are the main ways they'll recoup some of that cost, so I can't see the price dropping for a while.

TO be fair, you could get the Core pack for £209

...but I suppose you then have to shell out for a memory pack or HD.

Although, the memory packs are pretty cheap on the old auction sites.

Microsoft are already charging less for the Premium than I thought they would for the standard, so there really isn't any reason to reduce the price. Especialyl as it's selling well with a cracking line-up.

Aye, that's my guess as well, I don't see the need for MS to drop the price any earlier.

Especially if the PS3 is going to be £299.99+, but we don't know yet, so it's all speculationtastic.

My guess for the PS3 is anywhere between £299.99 and £349.99, and considering I was spot on for both the Core and Premium 360's, I reckon I'll be right as well :D

I'm crossing my fingers for a price drop in time for Xmas :o Or even better October (Birthday :D) but it's probably extremely wishful thinking, and I'd guess it'll probably be Spring next year.

They don't need to drop the price unless the PS3 comes out at a similar price to the 360, so it could be some time yet.

£209.99 is quite a nice price for a next gen console already, it's just the HDD that's overpriced with regards to hardware IMO.

Cracking Line up?? What planet are you living on?

I'd say 4 months into its life the 360 has a great games line up. I suppose it depends what sort of games you like, but I havent found myself with nothing to play yet.

As for prices, like any other commercial business it will start reducing prices when sales slow down. That could well be over summer, which is a traditional slump, and MS may decide to really hammer the early release home for a few months before ps3 is released, to grab as much market share as possible. To be honest waiting for PS3 before dropping prices may be a mistake, as if poeple have a choice of which to go for they may still go for PS3, even if its £150 more than the 360, but if they affer the 360 silly cheap when there is no PS3 people who may otherwise have been waiting may jump in.

I thought the current batch of games was great personally.
As can be seen by the thread on "your top 5 games" everyones tastes are different.

However COD2 - fantastic game, really loved it.
Full Auto - just love guns and cars and I still prefer this to PGR3 (admittedly most don't)
Gun- it is a port but oooh so brutal.
Oblivion - not got it but I WANT it.
Kameo - very different, great fun.
Condemned - freaky game, spooked me.

The starting lineup for the 360 imo wasn't the best. We had only 3 key games imo - Kameo, PGR3, Condemned and CoD2 - all four of these were superb titles while the latter wasn't exactly impressive on the visuals front.

Right now as it stands, we've got a lot of top games out there and Oblivion heads the pack for the most part. Things only get better from here onwards.

Yeah the 360 has got some cracking games as said, PGR3, Kameo, Oblivion, CoD2, GR:AW, Tomb Radier Legend, Condemned etc... the list goes on, not bad considering its only been out about 4 months. :)
