Xbox 360 reference levels outputting wrong signal??

Been reading this:

From what I can gather, and in short, setting the 360 to 'expanded' is bad, setting it to 'standard' is good in the reference levels.

Anyone shed some light on this? Could be the missing part of the puzzle as to why I simply can't get my TV setup just right. I have always used expanded through HDMI.

No reason. If mod wants, they can merge them, if it bothers you that much mate, report the posts and asked to be merged.

What do you mean 'setting your TV up right'. I don't think there is a cookie cutter setting that's the 'best'. Surely it's down to personal preference?

I use a AOC 24" 1080p monitor via VGA and I use expanded, it seems to give better colors than normal.

Yea, I understand, I just simply can't get it just right. Will have a true play around tonight.

Just reading around though and using my 360 as the source for my calibrations could be the issue. Hence the look up on what the 360 actually outputs from it's settings. And it seems I have stumbled across a rather interesting find from another forums user.
