Hey guys, took the plunge yesterday and bought a 360 premium/pro. Started playing yesterday, all performing great except for the headset. I plug it into the wireless controller but get no sound at all. The xbox emits sound when i play through the the TV [SCART Lead] but i don't get any sound when i plug the headset into the bottom of the wireless controller. Really upset about this as it's ruined my experience so far as this is my first xbox product. I'm planning on returning it to the store tomorrow but just wondered if anyone had a problem and it turned out to be a simple fix?

Thanks.

There wouldn't be much point in the headset playing sound as you wouldn't be able to hear the people talking, unless you wanted to play silently I guess.

As stated, the headset is only there for voice comms. It wouldn't be much use for in-game sound with just one poor quality headphone anyway.

Oh My! /facepalm. Wow, i'm such a retard, i would have gone back to the shop and been like WTF! NO SOUND LUL! So can you get headphones for the 360? Just playing GTA at like 4AM while people are sleeping = isn't win.

Was wondering this too, other than plugging headphones into the TV?

A simple adapter (not sure of the name) is all you need, one comes with the official VGA cable.

I believe it's on the left in this picture.

:Edit: Whoops typo :p

Not quite.

You need amplification to use headphones with the 360 effectively so a small portable stereo with phono in and a headphone socket would be required to hear the game properly.

Funny enough I tried it earlier without any amplification, just plugged a 3.5mm male -> female on the end of each cable and it sounded fine on my pc151s even near the lowest volume. The only issue is the microphone. I have to have the 360 headset round my neck to use it. not very comfortable.
I think you can plug a 2.5mm -> 3.5mm adaptor straight into the controller and set voice to come through speakers, but the mic on my pc151s is broken anyway.

The way I actually have mine is the sound from the xbox going into my pc and then back out through headphones, get sound from both pc and xbox at the same time then

So can you get headphones for the 360?

From what I can see there are two main headsets that include microphones designed for the 360, and I've heard pretty mixed reviews about both of them. The Turtle Beach X3 wireless headset and the tritton AX360. They're also both quite hard to find in the UK

You can't adjust the volume if you plug the headphones directly to the 360's audio out though.

I purchased a 2.5 to 3.5 adaptor to use my creative fatal1ty headset & mic on the 360 and because the 360 mic clips into the controller, the connection is very loose when using another mic (in my experience)

and because the voice sounds then have to be set to speakers, you cant hear people very well over the ingame voices - it just dosnt work very well

one of my mates purchased an 80 quid set of headphones which have a mini amp and everything for the 360, but he still has problems hearing people over ingame noises, and the connection again isnt very good into the controller
