That must be the reason then as I dowloaded from the link I supplied ^^
The US and UK updates must be different. All games played so far are fine though apart from Hitman but that's to do with the game not the update and the 360.
Has anyone d/loaded updates from the U.S website for there Xbox 360? I am asking as I am about to install an update from the U.S site but am unsure whether it will have any adverse affect on my 360.
Backwards compatibility updates can be downloaded/ordered on CD from the Xbox site (as you've found). They ONLY update backwards compatibility and NOT the 360 Dashboard or ANY other 360 game.
If you don't have a broadband connection at home then you won't be able to update any other 360 game or the Dashboard. Best option is to wait or visit a friend who has broadband.
Just to note, without a connection to Live! any games you have that may have an update on Live! will still work as they won't know there is an update present without a connection .
You will only get the system updates through Live! and nowhere else (yet - Microsoft will probably use new games to update systems if required as they did with the old Xbox).
As soon as you connect your 360 up to the network and it connects to Live! (Silver or Gold account makes no difference) it will automatically say that there is an update available.
Any 360 game update will only come up once you go to play the game connected to Live!.
Xbox 1 backwards compatibility will update to the latest version whenever you insert any Xbox 1 game while connected to Live! (though only those titles that are listed as working will play, any title can be used to prompt the update to download).
