XBOX 360 - Wireless Bridge

the 360's network adapter is auto sensing/switching so regardless of whether you use a patch or cross over cable, it should work great at that end :)

This is all I changed...

Ticked both boxes, rebooted the 360 and it connected up fine. :)

I had the same problem when I first wanted to connect my xbox through my computers wireless connection but this fix sorted it right away.

If anyone's still having trouble after a little search around I found many help guides for how to connect so just have a look around and all your problems should be solved.

not totally true, bridging the connections does not mean that your PC isn't on that network. your PC should continue to work as it did before with regards to the network and internet connectivity, it justs lets the 2nd bridged connection also access the same network.

That's what I did. I looked at all the guides telling you how to do everything, but I set everything to automatic and bridged the connections. It means that I have to repair the connection everytime I want to use xbox live but it saves me £50 from buying a wireless adapter

Bridging is pointless though as you can tell the connection that is on the internet (WiFi or LAN) to allow others to connect to the internet. You then plug the 360 into the LAN connection on your PC/Laptop and away you go. The only problem is you need the laptop/PC on and have to be in windows and connected to the network before you turn on the 360.

Bridging means loads of faff for the same result. :/

to be fair, any kind of messing on a PC to get Live working is a faff lol theres always going to be a PC somewhere that just refuses to work with one of the possible solutions in this post (ICS, Bridging, Allow other to connect etc) meaning even more messing around

Go with which ever works for you :)

Right, having trouble with this.

I'm back in Reading and my brother back home just got a 360, he wants to connect to Live but doesn't have or want to get the wireless dongle (doubt the router's range would reach his room anyway). He has a PC with 2 ports on it, and when he does my internet sharing trick above the xbox can't get an IP.

As far as I was aware, all he should need to do is right click the connection to the web and tell it to share the internet to the connection to the 360 and it should just work. But it's not picking up an IP.

I did exactly the same with my laptop, but via wireless and it worked straight away. The wireless and LAN IP range is one and the same, so it's not like there should be a conflict there.

Any ideas?

this is my point about any kind of PC method/work around always ends up as a faff at some point with someones setup lol

Have you tried bridging his connections?

He gave up and dug out my old 16 port 10/100 switch...it works but now he gets 'moderate NAT' message on the Xbox...still, something is better than nothing.
