Hi,

I've just brought a premium Xbox 360, but don't particularly fancy they idea of shelling out £55ish on the official Microsoft network adaptor.

Can I buy any generic USB adaptor, or an I going to have to bend over and take it from Microsoft?.

If a generic adaptor will work, can someone recommend one plz?

Cheers

Chris

A generic USB wireless adapter will not work I'm afraid.

You have 3 options really:

Wired Connection
Microsoft Official Wireless
Wireless Bridge like these: here

Hi,

Unfortunately you will need to buy the official one.

I am in the same boat, having to spend £55 on one.

Thanks for that, think I will probably go for a bridge, as I'm guessing they will have better range than the standard adaptor?

I'm afraid it doesn't take other brand USB network cards but you could just buy a Wireless Bridge then use an ethernet cable. Save you a few bob and might be more useful.

Is it possible to run a cable from a wirelessly connected pc to the xbox, bridged maybe? (xbox is only going to be 6 foot from the pc)

yes. There is no bridging involved, just use ICS in windows it works fine.

Cheers, got a mate who wants me to set it up for his kids. I've never even used an xbox let alone played with the networking! :)
