Howzit guys.

Well, I've been thinking about getting another Xbox..:)

I had the original Xbox when I was in UK a few years back, now I am thinking of getting the Xbox 360. Is it any better, really?

What I will be using it for is streaming content from my WHS Box or my PC over a Wifi network ( ethernet cable being plugged into an access point though ) and watching/listening to movies and music.

Will be using it for games obviously and dvds.

I'm just wondering if it's worth it really?

Also, as a side note...is it at all possible to connect it to a 19" LCD screen via VGA connection?

Thanks all! :p

Yes its worth it if you want to play games, and yes you can connect it to a monitor via VGA (providing you buy a VGA lead - official is best). Best thing to do is look at what's out and decide from that.

It does a decent job of streaming media as well, just obviously not as good as an original Xbox with XBMC (which is to be expected considering how long it been developed and that it's homebrew).

How loud are these things? I would be about 4 to 6 meters away from the console..would it be loud still?

Definately, the 360 is so much better than the PS3 in my own opinion.

Xbox Live just owns too and is definately worth the £35 a year.

Christ, yes! It is really worth it. You should have got one ages ago! You have been missing out on a lot of fun.

The 360 is leaps and bounds ahead of the original xbox. Not to say the original xbox has no use, I still use mine for playing videos and playing emulators.

The multiplayer experience alone is worth owning a 360 for, something which the xbox just doesn't do. I came from the PC multiplayer background and I can honestly say i'm glad I left it behind. Just being able to pop in the disc with no installing, no hassle, and no manually downloading and installing of patches is great. Pretty much everyone has a mic (can be a good thing and also a bad thing :D) as there was one in everyones 360 packaging box.

There is a huge range of games out for the 360 now. It has turned into a very mature and solid platform, theres no doubt there will be many games that you like.

I would suggest you buy yourself a HD TV if you haven't already got one, it matters a lot with the 360, if you like your graphics looking nice.

On the noise front, it was only really launch consoles that seemed to create a constantly high level of background noise. Current models only get loud when you are using the disk drive (and even then they're nowhere near as bad as the earlier consoles).

This is all from experience of other peoples 360s, never owned one myself so may not be accurate.

The huge library of high quality games is certainly not to be sniffed at.
