I have bought a copy of Xmen Origins: Wolverine, and using a keyboard & mouse is very fiddly with loads of different keys, and stumbled across an Xbox for windows controller.

What I want to know is where is the cheapest place to purchase one? Assuming im allowed to ask this kind of question. If not, then just close the thread

MM, by far, if not then IdLikeASuspensionPlease.co.uk with free delivery is pretty cheap.

And they rock for pc usage, I have two and no xbox.

I have around 3 xbox controllers at the moment, but without the Xbox Windows USB Receiver they wont work, trouble being that everywhere that has the separate receivers are all out of stock, dont really want to pay around £30 when I just need that receiver :(

I have two, i have a wireless reciever and a Play and Charge Kit, both work... also get xpadder and bind media functions, best wireless media remote i have ever used

I have found that I can buy both controllers from here, either £22.99 for the wired one, or £29.99 for the wireless one, both look quite tempting, especially as a small search shows the wired one can be had for as little as £17.99.

Which one would be better to buy, wired or wireless?

wired for PC. It works in more games and is more reliable. Also you can install different drivers for it which is useful in games such as LFS. The cable is also nice and long :)

Wired, cable goes on forever, very responsive, feels better without the battery pack, cheaper.

Bought one off the auction site for £13 ish a few months back for a friend.

I disagree, wireless feels better with the weight and as I said you can use it as a wireless media remote (of course you can use the wired one too but that looks rubbish)

I doubt the responsiveness is noticeable. Not sure about the drivers and working with more games. Mine has worked with everygame I want to play.

I find the weight of the wireless ones isn't as nice, the battery pack gets in the way, it feels chunky, not sleek like the wired one.

Plus it's easier to lose, you have to pay more for it, and I can notice the lag on a wireless one on fifa on the xbox.

I have both and there's no difference in responsiveness. I've not tested different drivers with the wireless pad as I've simply had no need to.

If you sit right next to your PC anyway then there's no reason not to go with wired unless you may use the controller in future with a 360, in which case the wireless will be the better option.

I disagree - but I do have a hell of a lot of different controllers so perhaps most people wouldn't mind the extra wire floating about.

I use a pad for console like games on pc. When doing this I sit back from my desk most of the time, so having wireless is great.
I've got both wireless and wired. Have a 360 aswell which sometimes gets used too :p

I have 3 controllers for the 360 already, all of which are wireless, but as they auto-connect to the Xbox when you switch the power on, I never thought I would need a separate one for Windows, but looks like I will need to. Might go with wired as they are a lot cheaper, hopefully I can find them cheap somewhere

I would love a wireless receiver, but looking everywhere on the web, nobody has these in stock at all, which is a shame. If you find someone that does do let me know as after seeing pages of "out of stock" I just gave up
