hey guys,

Today I have taken delivery of a XBOX USB adapter for the PC, and also a new Series S / X controller.

Will this be OK to use over USB 2? Or does it really need USB 3.0?

Reason I ask as accessibility to the back of my case is not easy, and I dont have USB 3.0 hooked up on my Corsair 750D because of the USB 3.0 header for the motherboard is very very tight, and on my last faulty motherboard I returned damaged the mobo slot for the USB connector. So to avoid this I have left it unconnected. And have two USB 2 headers on the front.

Cheers.

Also, to add..

I have my first bot device in the BIOS on USB, for if / when I need to boot a new OS etc..

If I use the front port USB for the XBOX dongle, will that conflict with my BOOT settings when I restart? Or should I have my Windows 10 boot drive set as first "go to" when starting the PC?

I'm not sure the exact bandwidth requirements for xbox series x pads.. I have one but use bluethooth 4.1 rather than the Microsoft USB dongle.
I'd imagine usb2 is wide enough bandwidth though but don't quote me on that. :)

I re-installed W10 last Monday, because of the issues I was having, (Wont load into Windows? | Overclockers UK Forums)..and since then it has been working great (touch wood) and I am hesitant to change much incase it ***** again :(

So my question is, if I leave as is (eg. USB booting at the front) it wont damage anything will it?

I have my mouse, keyboard and wireless headset connected, thats it.

It won't damage anything, but it's a security issue as someone could could plug in or steal your PC and run a Linux or Windows OS via USB.

OK thats good to know. I have decided im going to leave the controller / xbox setup for now..only really wanted it for Forza 5 so might look into it for the future.

So going to list this on the MM now, and someone will be getting a bargin :)

Thanks again @mattyfez

@mattyfez just a quick update, I thought **** it I will try setting this up and see how I get on with USB 2.0 and the boot etc..

And it worked great, so going to keep the setup. Thanks again Matt! :)

You can still run xbox pads via a USB cable with PC.
No adapter needed.

We're talking about wireless xbox pads with pc so you have 2 additional options depending on the specific xbox pad.
Some can run wireless over Bluetooth (v.4 minimum I think)
Or you can buy the official wireless Microsoft USB dongle which might be a more expensive way to do it but probably more reliable.
