Xbox controller using batteries when not in use

Anyone had this problem before? I use AAs with my 360 controller, and it seems to have started running them flat even when the controller is off. I changed the batteries a few weeks back because the controller wouldn't turn on, probably used it for an hour or two and it's been off since. Gone to use it tonight, and again the batteries are totally dead. Put two fresh ones in and it's fine, but the old batteries are completely flat.

They're Energizers so they're not cheap nasty batteries. Just rather annoyed that it's chewed through four AAs now.
 
Best bet is to get some rechargable batteries that don't lose charge(i've got some GP recyko) and a fast charger. Mine last a week or so between charges.
 
There just work arounds but your battery's should be lasting a lot longer than that. Sounds like you have a faulty controller. Easy way to check is to bring up guide menu before you finish and see if it's still at that level of charge on your next play through.

Weird. My two are working fine. But then I use my original controller as a battery charger, as its thumbstick died. So I don't notice how often I charge the battery, every few days I would guess.
 
My battery non rechargeable seem to last forever maybe one month at a time and used often. I have noticed though once the light goes out connecting again and playing gives an extra 10-15 hours also.

Well the charge and go kits I have taken apart have all had good quality Sanyo NiMh batteries in them. (Sanyo make Eneloops)

However as someone else stated your far better just getting some decent LSD AA batteries and a decent Delta-V charger (Eneloops or GP are what I recommend)
 
I have looked at getting some rechargeables or a play & charge kit, but I don't really use the Xbox that much and I have (or rather, had) quite a lot of Energizer AAs lying around. The play & charge batteries I had for my old 360 were really iffy which put me off the idea of buying them for my newer console.

For what it's worth, it's the first time it's done this to me so maybe it just doesn't like the batteries I'm using.
 
To be honest I think they upped the quality of some of there stuff. My 2nd play and charge kit seems better quality and my newer controller is *far* better than the first one I had.

This every single time.
I had excactly the same experience with play and charge kits but since i swapped to good quality rechargeables mine now last up to a month with a couple of hours gaming say 4 nights a week.

I think that's the nature of batteries in general. My 2nd PS3 pad (which is a non-dual shock so I'm not mixing them up) is sometimes flat on the odd occasion that I need to use it because it sits for months unused.

I had an Xbox 360 for a year up untill recently. The Play N Charge kit I had was really good.
 
With the play & charge I got into the habit of removing the pack when not in use, otherwise it'd be dead when I came to use it.

I switched to using Eneloops and I don't need to bother anymore, they last an age.
