Anybody do this?

How does it work? Connect the pad and it works straight away? Or is there software to configure?

I use my pad with a wireless dongle thing plugged into my PC (Xbox Crossfire or something like that).

Works straight away. :)

I'm on XP. :p

Think it may be a different process whether its an "Xbox controller for Windows" or just an Xbox pad being used with the dongle.

For every game? BFBC2 is the one i want it for ideally...

You will get utterly battered online if you're intending to play it online btw, you just won't be able to compete with the speed and accuracy of reactions a mouse allows.

The controller for windows is just a 360 one bundled with the wireless dongle.

i use a standard wired pad.

Most new games that you would expect to be pad compatible are so out of the box. I have just discovered xpadder which gives you complete control of the controllers button setting.

i wouldnt bother with xpadder to be honest, games that are compatible like console ports work fine, but pc specific games just have far too many buttons to import to a 360 controller, ive tried it.

Tried xpadder on my normal pad. Had all the buttons mapped exactly how i needed them. Went to play BFBC2 but nothing. Not one button works.

My 360 controller worked fine with bfbc2 without needing to use anything like xpadder

I was just testing it though. I would never play an fps with anything other than keyboard and mouse ;)

I have a wired one for me PC, best controller ever! Especially when you consider the price as well.

A lot of games support it out of the box now as well.

Providing the game supports game pads you can just set up the buttons as you wish.

Yes i must admit, ive been away from pc games for a while, but admit i do prefer the keyboard / mouse, its just more precise in shooters.

I have a 360 controller for PC and with most new games it works out of the box (especially if its port from 360).

BFBC2 in particular doesnt have and decent controller support, even with Xpadder i couldnt get it to work quite right. would have liked to have used it for flying helicopters since it seems less arkward than M/KB.

I'm having problems with mine. The d-pad dosn't work with any game or application I've tried, yet it works in the control panel game controllers settings test tab so the hardware is alriight. Anyone know how to get the d-pad working properly?
