Chaps, I really have literally no ideas regarding xbox headsets, like none what so ever.

had a really cheap set of Turtle Beech ones (which were garbage!), and they finally gave up the ghost the other night. So now looking for a decent set of headphones.

Looking to spend between 50-100, must also have a mic compatiable with the xbox, as it's uncomfortable wearing two! :)

Wireless is preferable, but not a necessity.

Any ideas on which headsets are good?

Appreciate the help! :)

I'll have a quick look now:

The Ear Force XLC I think. Pretty basic, the cups weren't actually big enough for my ears either, so it was quite uncomfortable to wear!

I'm sat pretty close to the speaker system any ways, so easy to plug in (or into my rocker chair) but would prefer a wireless system.

I'll have a look at the tritton's now. Thanks :)

The turtle beach ones any good? Really? There doesn't seem to be much in the choice of headsets as a general rule.

The trittons look very nice, not sure if the budget will stretch that far though!

Going to get the missus to pick some up for me, as I actually get a brithday this year... hooooray \o/

I have the X11's currently (with the EarForce DSS adaptor) and do not have a problem with them, they are really good.

They have been replaced by the X12's which also look very good and might be worth considering, I know you have been put off buy the XLC's, but Turtle Beach headphones are not all that bad.

the Ax720's are about £100-£120 online.

In the household I've had the X1, X11's and now the X41's, never an issue since I first bought the X1 when MW2 first came out.

Think I have the X31 for my Xbox, not wireless though but thats not an issue. Main factor was being able to hear the games when the wife and kid were in bed :p

What's the earforce dss adaptor?
have the x11's been discontinued?

What's the best one out of the above which you have used?

Wireless isn't a factor, would be nice, but isn't a major thing.

The main reason I want it is very similar to yours. I live with my missus and she insists on talking all the time, literally (I still love her though! ;)). Whilst playing FIFA especially. She goes to bed quite early so would help to still hear FPS games as they should.

Thanks for the above, any further opinions please keep them coming!! :)

Not sure if they have been discontinued or not.

The DSS adaptor is the Turtle Beach equivilent of the Astro mixamp, it is a 5.1 adaptor to make standard stereo headphones Dolby Headphone sets. Essentially giving you a wired set of Turtle Beach X41's.

Fro ma few sites I had been hearing about the astro mixamp and didn't really know what it was!

Thanks for that anticonscience.

The mixamp is very good, and users of them will swear they are amazing (and at roughly £200 + required cables, they should be).

Mine cost £39.99 for my X11's and £60 for the adaptor, and they are more than adequate for me to soundwhore and hear people coming on FPS games such as COD.

Cannot say how they compare to the Astro Mix amp and Astro A40's as I haven't used them to compare them to the quality of the DSS adaptor.

I find the sound from the DSS brilliant though.

I really do like the look of the ax720's, just not sure the missus would be keen to splurge that much money, even though it is my first birthday in 4 years!

I'll try to work the old charm ;)

search on the bay for turtle beach dss, theres a seller flogging new ones for 40 quid delivered

then grab a pair of turtle beach x11 from there too, the lot should come to 80-90 quid, and you will have a 5.1 surround experience for under 100 quid, and you can upgrade the headset to whatever headphones you like later, I said x11 as they have a mic built in that will work through the dss
ax720 is good, but the dss has very good sound quality, with good headphones its better than a mixamp, only drawback is no voice mixer so turtle beach headphones are better for a player who uses chat

I have Turtle Beach X12, got them online for about £40

Playing games is so much better with a good set of headphones, especially games like Battlefield 3 etc. Like playing it in the odeon haha
