I've been trying to get internet access to my Xbox 360 again recently, but not having much luck. My setup is as follows:

- Wireless router (Netgear DG834) is in another room
- My PC is in my room, with wireless internet access
- My Xbox 360 is connected to my PC via the cable that came with it

When I do Connection Test on the Xbox 360 it fails on IP Address. 'Your console was unable to negotiate a lease with your DHCP server. Make sure that addresses are available on your server'. My PC, which is running Vista x64, can detect the Xbox 360 on the network just fine, as shown in the picture;

The trick is to feed my internet from my Wireless router through my PC and into my Xbox 360 - but I have no clue how. Help me people!

I believe you need to enable Internet Connection Sharing on the LAN connection on your PC. This will then assign the PC an IP address that your 360 can use.

Why not use a cable from the router or Wirless adapter for the 360 though? :|

ICS is enabled also. Still no luck though.

you could try and bridge the connections (in network connections or what ever its called in vista, highlight both the wired and wireless connection, right click, select bridge), it works for me on my laptop. wireless from router to lappy, then wired from lappy to 360

Legend!! It fixed it! At first it wouldn't work, but then I went to LAN and disabled ICS on it, then bridging the connections worked. I think ICS must only be enabled on the wireless adapter in the PC. Thanks a ton dude :) I've had this problem since I got my wireless a couple of months ago, and it's finally fixed. Much appreciated.

Wow I might need this exact info on Friday if I decide to get another xbox - so thanks!

Does it have to be a crossover ethernet cable or just a straight Cat5e?

just plain cat5 throughout :)

tbh im not sure what would happen if you used cross over on it??? probs just wouldnt work

"Hi There",

The 10/100 "Ethernet" port on the "Xbox" 360 is auto-sensing. So "you" can use either a "Straight" or "Crossover" Cat5 cable.
