Xbox Live Problems

Ok, got an interesting problem with xbox live. My car club plays xbox live (xbox 360) quite a lot, ive just got my xbox. The problem im having is i cant connect to one of them.

His name is Jam. Basically when he is in a game, say texas poker or pgr3 and i try and join either through an invite or just joining the session through their profile it doesnt work. It comes up with a message after a little while saying unable to connect or something. It also happens when Jam tries to join a game im in. The strange thing is, i can play with other people fine with no problems. Also, if you are in the game room, you will see the person (either me or jam) join them the room then immediatly leave.

Does anyone have any idea whats wrong or how to fix this?

there was a problem last night with the poker for some reason not sure if this completely answers your question though

Mayhap he only has a silver XBL subscription?

na hes got gold i think because dont you need that to play online. he can play online fine with everyone else and ican play with about 5 people (only tried those) so its a problem between me and him. We have had problems since i set it up wednesday lunchtime

Check what your NAT says in the Network test screen.
Some combinations cant connect to one and other:

I had problems with this for some time until I enabled UPNP on my router which fixed them all.

hmmm interesting il ask him when i can about what his nat is

so when you do the xbox live test, it would show under nat either open, moderate or strict

Yup, thats the one. Open can be accomplished by either enabling UPNP if your router supports it or using DMZ option IIRC

mine already says open, so does that mean thats not the problem?

Should do, his might say Open as well though which would mean a whole lot more bafflement.. but id definitely get him to find his NAT status first..

If his is open too you should find out what sort of hardware your both running? modems ICS /routers etc and then contact xbox live support maybe..

well ive emailed xbox live support earlier.

One thing, posted on our forum and jam says his isp might of being the problem as he couldnt access some websites.
