A mate of mine has had his 360 since launch day, he connected it to his broadband to use the 1 month free trial on live and it worked great. He never bothered to subscribe to live between then and now and hasn't had it connected to the internet since then. Now when he connects the ethernet cable to the 360 it says that it cannot connect? Is this because he has yet to buy a gold subscription or could it be because he had his internet changed to a different company, but didnt like it so changed back to the original but got a new system - router/modem etc and it wont recognise it because it not the same as the original?

Im new to the whole 360 thing as i only got mine on tuesday, so i thought id ask here to get answers from people familiar with them.

Thanks a lot.

The 360 will not stop you getting access to the internet, if you don't have a Gold subscription, you'll automatically have a Silver membership, giving you access to Live services.

The problem will definately be settings incorrect. If it's the same router that he's using, I'd guess it's an issue with the 360 settings. Have a look in the network settings and see what the 360 can see.

Thanks for the reply, i will let him know and get him to check the settings.

The router he has now is an updated one of the original he had if that makes any difference?
