hello,

im having great difficulty in trying to get my new xbox to connect through the ethernet using my laptop which is on wireless...

i tried using the automatic settings, but allways fail.
i tried using google to find a solution, there is a lot of good help on there,
but nothing i could get to work for me...

im using a Netgear router downstairs,

and i have a acer ferrari 3400 laptop which is on wireless, while i have my xbox 360 connected to it using the ethernet cable supplied with the xbox.

but its just not working,

when i try to go into the wireless settings on the laptop,
go - properties - advanced - allow internet connection sharing... all i keep getting is this error.

i tried doing it manually too.. but i just cant work it out.
i even reset the router to start fresh again, but no joy :/

anyone used there pc or laptop for there xbox live?
can you show me how, be much great if you can.

as my pc isnt working, and im bored without online gaming :(

cheers

I have BT home hub and use the same method as you, maybe its your router? Are all the necessary ports open? I just connected mine up, went into network settings, enabled LAN connection, then went to network setup wizard.

Sorry I cant be much help not really a network type guy. :(

ICS sets the IP address to 192.168.0.1 (or 1.1 I cant remember), which is probably what your netgear router is set to, id check that and change if so, also check that your other network connections on your your laptop arent using that address.

still cant get it to work, when i changed the Lan I.P on the router.

to 192.168.0.10 and when i did share with wireless, and local it wouldnt do it, even when none are using 192.168.0.1 :(

still buggered!

Yeah you would need an X-over cable to connect a 360 to a laptop/PC. I managed to connect to Live! through a laptop and a 3G card, although any games were obviously unplayable due to huge pings.

well...

i couldnt get it to work with my current card in my laptop.
so i stole my brothers USB wireless stick.

BAM! got it working, bridged it, after a few restarts, and was playing it last night fine ;)

you dont need the cross over cable, as the one with the xbox 360 is fine, since the xbox can handle both, check it on google, as you sure can ;)

so yep, its working with me usb stick. just not the wireless card built in,

so im going to steal that for awhile, till i fix my pc!
