**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Why fret about hard drive size? 360's drive was tiny, hasn't bothered me once. Once you finish with a game you delete the install. Not hard to free up space. Some people will literally complain about anything.

How many games do you play at a time ? I dont really think its much of an issue for either console TBH, most of the time i may have say 3-5 games on the go at a time so thats 250GB max. If I had finished playing a game i would delete the install..

Very true. I was thinking of all the extra's you could stick on the console, but they've removed that ability, so.. /palm :p

Anyway, just 11 days and 9 hours till the 22nd!

Because we are in the era now of everything going digital. I really did think that this would be the generation to start it off but it doesn't look that way.

To be fair though it'll be a pain for those wanting to go digital, as having to re-download a 30GB game will be a pain, even on really quick connections.

Still, external hard drives are cheap now, and I already own a 500GB USB3 drive, so it's not a real problem for me.

I know this came up a few pages back, but official word from Major Nelson...

A few Xbox One’s have appeared in the wild

Due to a retail partner’s system issue, a very small number of Xbox One consoles were shipped to consumers before the 11/22 street date. We’re pleased to see the initial response to Xbox One has been so positive, but given we are still putting the finishing touches on our games, UI and online services, as well as confidential partner and media agreements, these consoles units will be restricted from connecting to Xbox Live until closer to our launch date.

We love that @Moonlightswami is excited about Xbox One and we can’t wait for him to enjoy it closer to launch.

From http://majornelson.com/2013/11/09/a...paign=Feed:+MajorNelson+(Major+Nelson+(Xbox))

So, looks like he might get his console access back before launch, though may only be a day or two.

Still seems a bit harsh to ban him for an error he didn't make (even if it is temporary).

LOL, did you read the above post? He is blocked temporarily, not banned. And yes, if MS are finalizing things ready for launch, you can't moan if your access is revoked until then.

Indeed. It's not like it's a few days early, it's two weeks early when they are undoubtedly still finishing some things off.

The blame for the whole situation likes with Target for sending the consoles out early.

They have already said it will take any USB 3 hard drive and will be fully expandable using that. (but not at launch)

That's easier than opening up a PS4 for the "non tech" masses and they haven't said anything about having to use a proprietary hard drive.
In an ideal world it'd be nice to replace the internal drive for the tech savvy but to be honest USB is fast enough now that strapping on a 3TB external drive is an easy option for pretty much anyone, relatively inexpensive (ok, maybe 3TB is a bit extreme ;) ) and doesn't really have much in the way of downsides.

The ignore button helps if someone you find is trolling .
Indeed, although I prefer not to ignore anyone. There's a difference between posters like yourself who, lets face it, are not the biggest fan of XO but at least try to have a balanced view and sensible discussion, and the 3 or 4 normal rampant fanboy trolls who just want to stir arguments up or put down any kind of positive discussion/news.

In large part I think there's a recognition that this thread is all about XO so a little bit of respect to people who have made a choice or are looking for information is not an unreasonable ask. There are other threads for arguing about "which console you'll choose" or other comparisons/arguments.

No one minds discussion around negative aspects of a console as well as positive. A good example being pretty much everyone in the thread has long since acknowledged the PS4 has a performance edge and has generally gone on to some really interesting discussions around the relative merits of the two different architectures. Hopefully with release this will settle down a bit now so people can have a sensible debate and discussion as we wrap our brains around how the two consoles mature over the next year. :)

Xbox ONE really does have an uphill battle ahead of it.

A friend of mine who has no internet and gets most of his tech knowledge from word of mouth seems to have crucified the Xbox ONE, which considering he was drooling at the mouth after I showed him Ryse and a few other Xbox ONE games at launch, Means he's done a full 180 with regards to the console.

I've asked him where he's getting his info, turns out 3 shops, CEX, Cash Generator and Game are all bad mouthing the console in my area =\ (Nice way to sell a product guys!)

But if this guy has made the decision boycott the console, and his first hand knowledge is coming from people in shops. Then that's going to hurt XboxONE in the long run :(

If your friend has no internet he wouldn't be able to use an XB1 anyway, they need to be connected to get the update.
