**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

That looks awesome actually, dont know if ill use any of it but options are good.

Cant wait to get my hands on the xbox one, couple of weeks to go. Need to pack up my 360 and other bits and bobs with it. Taking it to Game on tues to trade it in along with some saved up credit and probably pay for the whole thing in one go.

A bit of an update on the XB1 guide for the UK, http://www.techradar.com/news/gamin...won-t-hit-uk-until-some-time-in-2014--1197771
Microsoft has confirmed that the UK won't be seeing the Xbox One TV guide feature, better known as Xbox One Guide, this year.

Speaking at an event this week, Xbox Senior Product Manager Terry Farrell told us that the UK won't be getting the Xbox One Guide feature until "some time in 2014".

The feature, which displays TV listings and lets users switch channels and shows by using voice commands, will be available for US users from launch day.

We knew the UK wouldn't be getting the Guide love from the get go, and now we know for sure that Guide won't make its way to British shores until next year.

"There's a number of different providers out there from where you can get guides," said Farrell on integrating Xbox One with TV guides in the UK.

"We are choosing to partner with these folks and they are excited about the idea of integration."

So why the delay? Microsoft told us that it was still busy integrating the guide features with different providers, as well as making sure that the HDMI pass through will work with the number of different digital set-top boxes.

"We're testing all the boxes. You can imagine how many there are in the UK," said Farrell. "We've been so focused on testing all the different cable boxes around the globe for just basic passthrough. In 13 different countries - that's a lot of TVs"

UK users will still be able to pass the Xbox One through their current digital boxes - most of which will be supported from day one - although it's just shame that we won't be able to take advantage of the Guide functionality this year.

We'll also be able to control certain TV functions via voice commands, such as turning it on and off and adjusting the volume.

No surprise for a lot of this stuff, hardware getting made up whilst software can come down the line later.
Its a bloody huge undertaking making it work with most of the big TV networks.

Same as PS4. Was expecting it really, when was the last time a game didnt have a day 1 patch?

It's not the same as PS4, PS4 can actually play games without the patch, it's just missing a few other features.

Why did you bring up the PS4 in here again anyway?

(Proving my point that I don't start most of these arguments in here!)

Scouser - "Xbox - watch Accrington Stanley"
Xbox - "Who are they?"

:D

Xbox commands in geordie:
"Xbox, Howay" - Xbox On.
"Hoo man, where's mine like?" - Xbox, Show my stuff
"Xbox, dee one" - Xbox Off.
"Xbox, tell 'em to dee one." - Xbox, hang up.

That UI looks very slick. Really impressive - even with the Kinect tracking feature :)

Someone better go onto the PS4 thread and post the required day one update and its limitations if the update is not installed just to make them aware. We gotta help each other right?

I already did that on the day it was announced and I moaned about the lack of MP3 & DLNA.

Difference is whenever i post something informative in here I get a bunch of Xbox fanboys crying and saying 'Buh PS4 too'

Am I right in thinking I can feed my Sky box through the Xbox and watch it without having the Xbox turned on? If so that saves me reaching for the tv remote to change channel. I'm not worried about any integration.

From what I gather its likely, as it seems the XO assume more of a "sleep mode" rather than completely turning off.

I hope Google et al are buying up a lot of storage space cause once Xbox one and PS4 start all this streaming/ Caping they are going to fill up with stuff in no time.

Going to be so many lets plays and trollin online vids.
