As requested I have created a single thread where people can add news/rumours of the resolution gate saga rather than creating a different thread for every game (as there seems to be allot).

Below is how the situation currently stands. (including rumours)

Lol, we're off to a good start, Thief is also rumoured to be 900p at the moment, but in no way final after the 8% MS unlocked recently.

Tomb Raider isnt 60fps on PS4, its 60fps max, most of the time its somewhere in between 30 and 60. (having completed it recently).

How often did it drop that low for you? i've also played it and seeing a drop that low would have been very obvious? i noticed minimum slow down certainly not framerate halving?

For that reasoning Tomb Raider isn't 30fps on XB1, its 30fps max, most of the time its somewhere in between 20 and 30 :)

You can say that for BF4, COD etc on both systems.
Yea but for the most part it's always 30fps, that's why the average framerate for the X1 is 29.84 whereas the PS4 is 50.98 and in most part is always around the 40-60 mark.

Shock as less-powerful console delivers lower performance than more-powerful competitor.

And "resolutiongate"? What? That isn't even a thing.

Titanfall has massive dips in frame-rate.

However, it all changes once you buckle into a Titan, and in this build we see lengthy passages of play (particularly by the end of a mission) falling within the 35-45fps range.

...

In its current form, it's difficult to understand Titanfall's resolution choice considering the variable performance.

So it's not 60fps either if Xbox One owners are going to argue that Tomb Raider PS4 isn't.

Well I suppose it's a separate point that, if a game is claiming to be 60fps, yet only achieves 60fps for a small amount of gameplay, then it's not truly a 60fps game. To me a 60fps game is a game that maintains 60fps for the majority or entirety of the game. I can't say that about Knack or Tomb raider.

TR average frame rate was around 50 fps on ps4 and 29fps on XB1.

imo they should use average FPS to get an accurate picture of what the true FPS is of the game.

but that would mean lowering scores for both sides (not just sony).

how do they test these FPS anyway? do they have a special developer console that they run it on? or on a emulator on a pc kit?

So when they say oh it's 1080p/60fps it actually isn't...well it is...but only if you're like...staring at a wall...really close...and not moving...at all..

People actually care about this stuff still?

PS4 games look better, pretty much universally agreed. Doesn't mean XO games look bad or aren't as fun to play, hell one of the best looking and most fun games I've played since November is Ryse :p

Could MS release an updated X1 in the future so games could keep up w/ PS4 and also be scaled down on the original X1?

They'd have to do a product recall similar to the RROD replacement programme, they're more likely to just replace Xbox One in 2-3 years with something a lot more powerful than PS4. Or if rumours are true throw in the towel.
