XBOX One to XBOX One S (External Hard Drive)

Hello,

I'm thinking of upgrading to a XBOX One S, for the 4K Player. I've got a External USB3 drive plugged into my XBOX One with games on, can I simply set up the XBOX One S and plug my Hard Drive in with the installed games? I assume some files will need downloading but will the majority simply appear?

Yes that's about all there is to it. I moved from an S to an X in exactly the same way - just copied all my games and apps to my external hard drive, fired up the X and went through the initial setup and signed into my XBL account then plugged the USB drive back in and that was it.

I moved from OG - > S and then S -> X with the same games on an external HDD, no problem, plug and play.

When you load a game for the first time on the new console it says something like 'Preparing game' or along those lines, 5 second job and you're good.
