I only use my Xbox these days for Netflix and my daughters DVDs.

It's loud and the interface isn't the greatest and i've started getting 2 red lights and the fan going crazy.

If i looked to build a little something to sit under the TV and do those 2 things, is it worth looking at this in the clearance section..

What else would you put with it, I've got a 2GB stick of DDR3 kicking around, but would need everything else.

OS wise whats free and not too much of a faff for the missus to use as well, even the Xbox is a push...

Oh and looking for HDMI into my soundbar too, from there to an HD TV.

Thanks.

As little as possible!

If it's about £150 i can easily justify to it to myself, any more and i start to have to think about it.

There's this motherboard in clearance too

So that's half the budget on MB + Chip...

We've already got a desktop about 2 metres from the TV, it's just loud and I'd need a better GFX card i think.

But for £150 it'd probably be wiser to get a cheap cooler, some quiet fans and an upgrade on the GeForce 8600GT?

Sell your xbox and spend at least £300. Even with £150 you'll get better graphics than the xbox but personally it's not worth it.

I've got the Sony S5100. Granted it's more expensive at just over a ton, but it's great. I love it.

All the apps, wi-fi, and superb playback (4K). Definitely a much, much better option than sticking a PC under your telly if you only want Netflix and DVD's.

And you can stream content from your main PC if needed.
