Xbox VGA Users

im tempted to get a VGA cable to input to my monitor instead of using the component cables, is it worth it? or are component cables just fine with the limit of 720p?

The 360 has no support for 16:10 (widescreen PC monitor) resolutions. Unless your monitore supports 1:1 pixel mapping (dont know if it does) then the image will be streched accross the whole of your screen. This means that not only will the 16:9 image be streched upwards slightly to fill the 16:10 monitor, but the resolution will be running at non native rez, meaning things that should be 1 pixel wide, are steched accross 1.something of a pixel. This greates a blury image, and can mess up fine details as there are no sharp edges.

It will do with the Fall update.

I was running my Xbox 360 at 1080p using the VGA cable on a 24" 1920x1200 resolution display and it looked fine. The picture was streteched at little but everything looked perfectly fine.

in the E3 thread M$ just announced 16:10 support and new resolutions. take alook, don't know if it'll help your ghosting issues though.

my pics weren't of ghosting text but they're pretty jaggy not that the pictures show it too well.

This and this may help you out.

Oh no wait, this is the console forum, everything has to be an argument or the 12 year old users here arent interested...

but sarcasm doesnt actually work on an internet forum and usually gets misinterpreted as basically having a dig at someone :)

Well got it connected to my monitor via HDMI now using a HDMI-DVI adapter and wow the difference is huge! So much clearer the edges are very smooth and everything looks crisp, the text looks excellent and pin sharp, safe to say I’m happy :D :D

I may have to give that a try. I've been using VGA since launch day, but now I've got an HDMI console it might be worth trying.
