Hello,
I'm interested in buying a 360 console.
Can someone tell me if it's worth getting the premium over the arcade version:
I do not care a single bit about wireless or anything. I don't care about multiplayer ( I refuse to pay for online play, I'll always have a capable pc for that).

Is a 360 arcade fine for the likes of forza, GTA IV, burnout series, PGR3, Halo3 etc ?

How is the reliabilty, if I'd buy a new one and perhaps some upgraded cooling, what's the chance I'll get the ROD or any other problems ? I really want something that's reliable but I aint got the money for a ps3.

Is there any point in spending much more for a premium 360 than an arcade ?

If you are not going to take it online just get the arcade, as for reliabilty, with ever new game that seem to push the console another lot of consoles seem to fail.

Yes, premium is worth it for demos, arcade games, DLC, backwards compatibility (if required) plus reliability is better. Just remember you have a warranty for a reason, worse case scenario you can always get it replaced.

Why would a Premium be more reliable than an Arcade? They'll both have the Falcon chipset if bought new.

id seriously get a premium instead of arcade, you say you refuse to pay for online play, but you'll soon get sucked in, everybody does.

Arcade has HDMI as a standard though and costs just 200€ in shop.
What's the fail rate on these 360's these days ?

Dude, you don't know me, I refuse to pay for anything monthly.

That was in answer to the second question :p I was comparing the reliability of the current consoles to launch, I should have made that clearer.

If the hdd is all thats diff to arcade to premium he can just install a standard hdd from a pc surely?

im no expert but i dont think you can. however i have heard you can use a standard hard drive for music and video but not xbox saves and installing.

my 360 will be arriving tomorrow and i opted for the premium because it comes with a hard drive - i dont care about the wireless pap either but after deliberation i got the premium with GTA4 for 199.99 delivered which was a good deal.

Can't you add the hdd later on?
I have no desire to wait longer than neccesary,

You can purchase it seperately however they do cost around £65 so.

Arcade £150
Premium £190
Arcade + HDD £215

i would go for the HDD, the fact that you can download demo's (i think with silver) and play old xbox games its worth it, also some games require the hard drive.

The console comes with 1 month free Xbox Live and if you get GTAIV you get another month free so you can always decide to buy after the 2 or 1 month period.

do not fear then as you dont pay monthly :)

Id get the premium, its the best deal. Some amazing bundles out there.

Truth, you can get the GTA + 360 premium bundle for the same price as the console without the game. i have noticed a few others including Forza and viva as well.

Oh you guys don't get it.
Of course I could have gold for free too by registering to a new mail every month, but there's an other matter... Enough about that matter as I'm in a lions den atm... Forget the online/hdd questions...

I'm getting the arcade and I'll perhaps later buy an hdd for it.

What you guys didn't answer me is, how prone are these 360's to break, eg. if I buy one, how much chance do I have that I have to send it back some time?
