sorry guys . i know this has probably been asked many times but i'm in a rush before going out and need help.

just bought an arcade model and will be looking ot add a hd .. is it easy ? and is it just certain types of hd that work ?

its very easy, you just buy the official microsoft 20gb, 60gb or 120gb (is there a 250gb one yet?) and click it on the top of your arcade.....jobs good lol

It's easy as these guys have said, I'd go with a 60gb or 120gb hd though because it's beneficial having the space to install more then just one or two games.

To use drive bigger than the standard official sizes (20gb, 60gb, 120gb and 250gb) you have to do some pretty involved modding (JTAG hack and custom dashboard flash). Not only would it invalidate your warranty, it will also mean giving up xbox live as the console will be banned pretty much instantly. Also, if you have updated past a certain dash version it's impossible anyway.

Alternatively you can make a 'diy' drive in one of the official sizes by using certain types of 2.5" laptop drive and a 360 HDD shell, this will attach to your console and appear as a 100% official drive. It's pretty easy to do if you know what you're doing but it does involve some specialist software and flashing the firmware of the HDD.

By far the easiest thing to do is simply buy an official drive and slot it onto the top :)

Its very easy just add and click in at the top...

An OEM Elite 120GB drive can be had for just under £50. If moving data from one drive to another then the data migration kit is £12 from Microsoft...

I think its hard to get any 20GB drives or even 60GB drives new and they are expensive anyway. Currently 120GB is the way to go, but apparantly Microsoft seem to be shifting these out of the way (hence the OEM price above) in favour of the 250GB found in the Super Elite.
