All over the world...
Well i finally went and done it ie traded in my old premium system for the new 360 elite system with an extra wireless controller. Ended up using my in store credit so only paid £20 in total as i had over £150 worth of credit.

Anyways got it home and hooked it up via the hdmi cable...only thing that concerns me is that the signal doesnt come up straight away...in fact the 360flashes 3 red lights then within a few seconds it boots into the xbox blade. Dont know if its supposed to do that tbh...but so far after almost 6 hrs of constant gaming its going strong. Have to say its very quiet and quite nice in black...prefer this colour and at least i dont have to look at my dirty wireless controllers which seemed to attract dirt pretty easily. Not that i have dirty hands:p.

One other thing ive noticed with the HDMI connection is that in the system blade the fonts look a bit blurred but in game it seem perfectly fine. Im running my 360 at 1080i at 50hz so i dont know if its a faulty cable or what...or perhaps thats the way it is??. Anyone have any idea??.

Maybe its the settings on your tv? I had to fine tune my 40incher a bit when i pluged in the elite to make everything crystal clear.

Failing that just use 720p?

The blade that appears when you press the media button IS low res, it is always running (whether you see it or not) so the quality of stuff on it (font detail, background sharpness and images) are all kept to a minimal to keep system memory up.

Well went back to the good ole component cable in the end, tried adjusting the display with hdmi on the LCD but to no avil...still looked washed out and blurred. Tried the VGA cable, official M$ one and that was even worse:eek:. Looked absolutely horrendous on my Samsung LCD :/...was quite disappointed with the VGA result and no amount of adjusting LCD wise or within the xbox blade would solve it.

So in the end went with the component cable which gives me the best and most clearest picture out of all 3 cables...all 3 are official M$ ones btw. Will probably give the hdmi and VGA one another go sometime in the future, will need to find my LCD manual as i couldnt find it:p.

Im sorry but you must be doing something wrong! i think if your change to 720p it will look a lot better

If the resolution of your TV is 1366x768 or something similar, then I'd advise sticking your Xbox output on 720p. There is less scaling going on - at 1080i, the Xbox is scaling it up and the TV is scaling it down. Bound to look a bit mucky somewhere along the line.

Tried that and it still looks horrendous...dont know if its the 360 or the LCD, which is a Samsung 32" LCD...think the model number on it is LE32R74BD which i bought almost 2 yrs ago. Tried most of the resolutions in the blade and they all look horrendous...very washed out and horribly blurred.

Think ill just stick with component, much better picture imho.

Is this smasung only?

I would have expected HDMI to give the best picture out of all connection methods (assuming a decent cable is used?)

I have a samsung 32 hdtv and use hdmi with the supplied hdmi cable you get with the elite and the picture is sharp and colours are very good.
There must be something wrong with the settings you are using either the tv or elite.
I have tried vga and component but i like hdmi better.

Did you put the reference levels to extended?

When i had my mates HDMI premium over that made a world of difference to the look of the HDMI connection.

I personally think component/vga looked better than HDMI anyway.

LOL forgot about this thread. Anyways went last sat to return the original elite that i bought and got a new one. Reason being is that the original one i had, everytime i went to boot it up..it would start flashing 3 red lights at me but turning it off and on a few times seemed to rectify the problem. But decided to take it back to get it exchanged...got a new one and it works perfectly fine...no red lights on boot up or anything and the picture via HDMI looks spot on, crystal clear and sharp unlike the previous one i had.

So seems like the original one was faulty, think the hdmi port on it was fubared.

Cool at least there was a reason.

My Tv (TOSH 32WL66) doesn't do 1:1 pixel mapping. Does this affect HDMI at all? Or only VGA
