right, I've got a problem with getting the Xbox360 to play on Xbox Live! It was fine for the past month, but now it wont let me connect.

Is it possibly something to do with the offer I got when I was making the Silver membership, to upgrade to a Gold Membership for free for a month?

Can Xbox360 Silver accounts still play on Xbox Live?

Any suggestions?

Your gold account has obviously run out. You should still be able to connect and see friends online etc.. (I could) but you won't be able to do anything good, like play against them.

I'd recommend getting a 12 month subscription. I'm so glad I did.

yeah you cant 'play' online with silver, but you can still download and upload scores etc. Gold is worth it, especially as some downloads have already become Gold member only.....

Yep, as said above, it's all going to be to do with your free month. That month has gone :)

Silver you only can do basic Live things.

Does anyone know of any cheap shortcuts for a 12 month subscription that are still about? (You used to be able to buy Halo 2 with 12 months worth for under 20 notes but it's no longer available)

All liklihood that they've already been picked up online, as once somebody finds them online, they'll post around and people will all order them.

Offline, however may be a different story, as some shops may have them about sometimes, but I'd guess it's luck of the draw.

Easiest option now is finding the cheapest 12month subscription cards online, that being £32.99 I think.

Personally I prefer the option of just inputting my credit card and it taking the money every 12 months. It may cost more, but it's no hassle when I have to get another membership card.
