I've just hooked the 360 up to my Samsung SM-206BW 20" with a 4gamers cable. After setting the res as best I could (couldn't see the 1680x1050) I've noticed that the writing/screen seems to be blurred abit with a "shadow" on the writing abit offset behind it.

I've read that it could just be the cable quality and maybe I should invest in an official microsoft cable. Any thoughts on this anyone? Anyone had a similar issue?

Cheers

Most LCD monitors have an optimal resolution they like to run in, if you cant get it to run in that resolution then it's not going to be as good a picture.

Make sure that the resolution you're running it in is a proper widescreen resolution for a PC monitor (note TV's have a different widescreen resolution than PC monitors as they're a slightly different shape).

One thing to note is that the cheaper VGA cable's (Madcatz, 4Gamers) are not as good quality as the microsoft VGA cable. So if anything the microsoft cable is way better than the cheaper options.

They are far better quality (the M$ ones), ive just wasted £7 on a generic ebay jobbie-only to buy a M$ one today. The difference is mind boggling.

Doesn't matter how much you pay for a cable , it's not going to reduce the blurriness you get from running a tft at a non-native resolution which is the OP's problem.

If he's that bothered (and his tft supports it) see what it looks like with the tft switched to 1:1 scaling , at least then he'll get an idea of the quality of the lead without the tft distorting it before shelling out £15 on an official cable and finding it's still blurred.

Is the VGA cable far better than component? I'm using component at the moment and I notice that most of the games look a bit too aliased and not pin point sharp. I don't have a VGA to compare it with unfortunately. I'm wondering if it's because I'm sat quite close to the TV but it still should look very good I think.
