xbox360 vga problems

hi
just got on official vga cable as i have been running it on the component cable (to try upscaling dvds)
when i connect the vga cable the tv says mode not supported
its a samsung 40" r73 somthing or other
i have looked at the xbox settings and the tv settings but cannot find how to change the resolution of the xbox while running vga(as i have to have compoment connected to view the xbox)
any ideas?

That will be the problem then. Plug it back into your TFT, set the resolution down to 640x480. You will probably have left the resolution at 1280x1024, and your Samsung does not support that resolution, so it's telling you it can't display it.

changed the resolution when it was on the small tv the connected it back up and it started first time!

ps what do people think of the xbox as an upscaling dvd player?

I watched face off upscaled to 1920x1080 on my dell 2407 using the xbox and I was pretty impressed, didn't look stretched or anything, looked about the same as watching it on a normal sd tv

I've got used to watching HD-DVDs no, even upscaled SD-DVD looks dorrid :(
