After watching the highly entertaining OXM XCOM videos, I realise that I need to start thinking of names for my future squads. OXM had classics like Tom Selleck, Noel Edmunds, Kitkat Chunky ... I reckon we should use this thread as a repository for names so that anyone who feels uninspired can get a little help? Who's with me? Post below :)

I too found his naming scheme very amusing. KitKat Chunky; never forget. I shall likely be going for a song related theme:

Pinball Wizard
Street Spirit
Surfs Up
Brown Sugar

etc.

The problem is it'll be like with farm animals, as soon as you name them you'll become too attached to them. I'll probably play in the hardcore mode with no do-overs, as a result will end up upset frequently!

I tend to go with names from Arnie movies, Predator is a good example:

Dutch
Dillon
Blain
Mac
Billy
Poncho
Hawkins
Anna

Works out quite well for assigning classes too! Time to get old painless out of the bag...

Then when they get wiped I can yell "GED TO DE CHOPPAAAAA!!!"

Ironman Classic from the get go for me, really want this game to last as I loved the original. I think I will be saying the above quite a lot!

:D

Can't go wrong with Arnie.

"Do eeeet, do eeet now! Keeeel me ... I'm here ..."

I want the no savegame option, but I think Ironman level difficulty may be too hard for the first time through. I think I'll go a lower difficulty but self-imposed no reloading :D

I'll be naming mine after the characters in The Thing, so:

MacReady
Nauls
Palmer
Blair
Childs
Copper
Garry
Fuchs
Windows

Well, I hope it allows you to use single names anyway...

Trumpet and Curtains will have to be two (names that me and friends used when playing Chaos after school 20 odd years ago) then probably just me and my brother or something equally unimaginative but satisfyingly evocative like Ripley, Hudson or Hicks :)

I'll probably be sad and name them after red dwarf, alien, terminator and predator films.

Choice is do I play the no save version.

On the old ones always used save and reload.

I think the memorial (wall of death) is a cracking addition and definitely makes me want to go the no reload route... it maps out the games history with your losses.
