XDA Forums - Is it just me or are they all a bunch?

Seriously, who here uses XDA and contributes to the forums?

Why is it that anytime that anyone says anything thats even slightly against one of the dev's or contradicts whats in the original post for a ROM, everyone in the thread suddenly sticks their 2p in and jumps on the 'lets flame' band wagon?

Made a suggestion this morning into something not to do with a ROM, but more to do with what a developer could endorse to help with the droves of questions s/he gets posted in a ROMs thread constantly, and then i get 4-5 fanboys saying im being ungrateful, when all im doing is playing devils advocate!
Seriously, they might as well just setup online shrines to the dev's who can do no wrong and everything is gospel!

And they wonder why they get a bad rep!

I've found XDA fairly ok, but like all forums there are plenty of morons.

Just look at the Motors forum on here :p
 
True, but that place is beyond belief at times.

Could understand if they were all developers, but the plonkers are all just fanboys in each ROMs thread, more concerned with being ultra protective/brown nosing the Dev's and policing things where it needs no policing than actually helping people.:mad:
 
I've not had any trouble from them, but I don't participate much because I don't see the point unless I can contribute from a development point of view.
 
Ive Never had a problem with them personally, but from reading the threads you can tell how stuck up some of them are.
 
Heh I'm in and out of threads like a flash, just avoids any conflict :p
 
The only thing I've seen is that people tend to get annoyed when people post in the Developer section asking dumb questions without searching.
 
You've just described this thread in the Nexus One Dev section and in particular the stuck up elite who frown upon any offtopic question, It really is unreal. The dev in question (Fitsnugly) is a complete drama queen, Compiles the better CM7 builds in my opinion but has far too high an opinion of himself and what he is doing.

Saying all that, The amount of completely clueless moonmen on that site and the outrageous questions they ask at times never fail to make me smile !
 
XDA is where i spend most of my time and i will defend it to the hilt. People seem to forget that it's a developers forum so at least there are people there contributing and giving back to the community. (Which is more than can be said for the people here!) Sadly XDA is suffocating under the sheer weight of noobs who only join to ask nonsense questions and who aren't contributing in any way, shape or form.
 
It's not just you.

I've signed up over there and attempt to help people out when I have the time. I plan to more in the future as well, the resident members are extremely short and unforgiving to newbies. It's not nice.

EDIT: To the above, it shouldn't be a public forum if there is no tolerance for newbies.
 
I can understand it to some point, so many people sign up and post stupid questions in [DEV] tagged threads which have been asked and answered multiple times by other members.

It's similar to if there were loads of new members on here every day posting new threads about things that have already been posted, after a while it would get annoying. It doesn't help that most people don't seem to be able to use the search function which would probably give them the answer they go there looking for.
 
I can understand to an extent not using the search, and that annoying people.

But i made a suggestion as to improving the thread/ROM and all hell breaks lose and people got the complete wrong idea about what i was suggesting.
Cue one of the ROMs kernal developers having a pop too and everyone then brown nosing him.
Im sat here thinking 'FFS, im trying to help here!':o

This was the main culprit, replying to my second post.

To give backstory my original post was suggesting that all the hacks that people want, if someone was to make an update.zip, thats not endorsed by the ROM's developers, it would stop people asking over and over, cleaning up the thread, stopping annoying people, etc; and would allow people to use Oxygen, with hacks, unsupported, if they wanted 720p, etc;

Be honest, am i out of line or did i just phrase what i suggested wrongly?
 
Yes 90% of the users are insecure little brown nosing brats, don't waste your time with anything constructive get in, get out.
 
In your specific case yeah they are pretty much just brown nosing. I agree with what you are saying in the thread it would be nice if links to additional hacks/features were included in the OP for those that want them.

I have an account there but I think I've posted maybe once due to the reasons you have stated here. It almost feels like going into motors here :D
