Should the new forum feature a "like" system? (note: this is like only, not dislike)

Checked out the IGN boards, almost checked out of life shortly after :/

The thing is we complain about how basic the current forum software is, but we all know basic is better. And that's why we browse these forums so often. It just works. Sod a few who have phones with tiny screens and must scroll with their little fingers a bit more than others who have embraced 2016 technology :p
 
Might be best to wait until XenForo v2 is released otherwise we might not get the v2, just saying :D

There's quite a few customisations available in their market place too.

It's even worse when you do a side by side with that image and what you can see now, then realise how many 'lines' you lose from view because of wasted dead space between everything.
 
Less is more IMO. These forums do the job functionality wise. I'm sure old vb is heavy on the back end but all it needs is an update.
 
One of the big advantages of XF over VB which will particularly help OCUK is the handling of long threads. ENworld found that VB experienced significant slowdowns when threads reached over 500 posts. Switching to XF resolved this issue.
 
Darn that wasted space and 800x600 layout. It's the one with the most "will not read" quote display method ever invented, where quoted text fades and vanishes after third line of text and requires the reader to click "expand" to see what they were even discussing. In fact - has anyone ever encountered a XenForo discussion board with consistently coherent discussions?
 
Three XF boards I've used: Urban75, ENWorld, and Arrse. Note that Arrse is a military board, not civvie-friendly, and frequently NSFW.

Also Hardforum recently moved to XF.

Seen the screenshots above? We have made it look like this current forum as much as we can. The main reason for updating is to make it much easier to use the forum on your phone. And some bugs will be fixed, you should be able to search the forum on your mobile too.
 
All I really care about is the speed of the forums - If it isn't going to make it any slower then I don't really mind. Bring it on! It better have the black theme as an option though :p
