Poll: XenForo

Should the new forum feature a "like" system? (note: this is like only, not dislike)

Obviously not, but it was a forum run for over 10 years on vBulletin and the change was very smooth with no complaints from anyone. Everyone enjoys using the forums more, especially with proper mobile support.

The one thing I absolutely despise about the forum I frequent using XenForo is the way I'm forced to use a mobile version on my phone/tablet. I want to be able to see everything, in desktop form, so give me the sodding choice!

Yeah that's my only worry. I can get used to changes but I despise mobile views when I can happily use desktop.

Exactly, I know how pinch to zoom works, therefore why would I want a particularly useless cut-down interface just because someone without the dexterity to navigate a full page on a phone decided they wanted things to be "simpler".

Obviously it isn't going to please everyone. The XF mobile version has all the functionality of the full page, it's just condensed down using a responsive page. Everything is still there, the less important stuff is hidden from view but it's all there.

Yes, but also no.

Due to the "responsive" theme, it hides things that you simply cannot get back, signature images that are too wide, posted images that are too wide, etc.

OcUK looks minimalist to some as it's lacking lots of features which are pretty standard elsewhere where it's so old :p

Because having to constantly pinch to zoom and scroll is so much fun? There's no reason they can't easily implement a desktop site button is there?

Looks simple enough

The ability to "like" posts. Reputation etc.

Reputation is covered by Trust. The ability to "like" posts is pointless.

If all you want to do is inanely "like" other people's content, use Facebook. If you actually want to contribute to a discussion, you can "like" the post by quoting it, admitting you agree/like, then continuing the discussion.

Trust does not cover reputation. Trust is only feedback when buying or selling on the MM. Reputation is knowing that the advice given to you by a specific member is likely going to be good advice or not. This would especially be useful in the Hardware forums.

However there needs to be rule about not mentioning reputation. No offering rep points for answers or asking for them in return.
