Hi,

I've read on a ocforums thread that something can be wrong with the core temperature read for this cpu.

I've installed mine yesterday with MX-2 and a Tuniq Tower 120 and at stock I get 37 and 40 degrees idle.

Now before I refit the whole thingy, can it be that it is fitted correctly but just has wrong temps? Realtemp does Coretemp's temp -10 on my system. So I have 27/30 idle in Realtemp and 37/40 in Coretemp..

I would say 37/40 is more beleivable, what are your load temps these count more than idle.

Realtemp should have more accurate temps, though I'm not sure Intel released the specs for 45nm Xeons, the E3110 is effectively a E8400 though :p

Thanks for the quick replies, I had little time yesterday so I did a quicky building in the CPU :P I think I put a bit 'much' MX-2 on the cpu and then I saw these temps... that's like 10 degrees more then my E4400 @ 3.4Ghz :P so I was worried I put on to much MX-2 and/or didn't place the HSF correctly. Haven't tested full load yet as this got me scared and I had to go ... will test tonight...

Check out the XS thread for Realtemp (the creator posts there) if unsure but I'm pretty sure if you have the latest version, it'll be somewhat accurate (or as accurate at idle as the wonky sensors Intel builds can be).

Ok will do, thanks for helping me out!

Got it at 3.2Ghz now without adjusting voltages 8x400 seems rock stable. I'm aiming for around 4Ghz. But this thing is at stock faster in Vista then my E4400 @ 3.34Ghz.

When I go full load it does about 10Degress more (Orthos). Should be ok I guess?

for orthos i'd be fine with low-mid 70s full load. During normal usage it will be around 10c less which is totally fine.
