Xeon X3210 - How are they clocking & general Feelings?

Not wishing to make anything of it but its what I do pretty much on a daily basis. I have never had any problems with threaded code but then I have been coding for a long time.

groovy :) to be frank i was just relaying what i read in a couple of articles, as i said :)

ah hah i found an article, and it's online!
if there's a problem with linking to this site, say so and i'll remove it yo

"...If you're not familiar with writing code, it's easy to be hoodwinked into thinking that multicore is the simple answer to everyone's prayers. Unfortunately, it isn't, and multithreaded programming is hard, and we mean that in the same way that quantum physics is hard, as opposed to a bit tricky. "

Bito, any chance of a high res image of that, can't read anything!
WHat are your temps measured with Coretemp?

Would love to see some screenies of these, not seen much clocks on them at all yet.

Here you go :)

Full Load

Few weeks time and I shall be getting watercooling. At the moment bear in mind my fans aren't on full (too damn loud for me) I'm ok with a max temp of 70degrees. never gets near that normally.
Cooling is a Zalman 9500pro (probably badly mounted - I did it in a rush stupidly) with the fan at about 8v

Yikes that's hot, using the stock cooler?

Read again ;) :p

I'll remount over the weekend. Not been in the mood to do it this week. Been finishing off Uni work for the hand in earlier. Feeling like crap tonight, absolutely shattered.
Won't do it in a rush when I remount.

Set to 1.275 in bios.

Don't think I've got a clean mounting on the heatsink. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Dunno If I can be bothered to do it tonight!

hmmmmmm. tempting

My cpu heatspreader is lapped to the copper and is flat.
I have now put it into my basic watercooling rig and have dropped volts to 1.20v. Temps are now between 51c to 54c across all four cores running at 100% with Prime95. T-Junction for the Quads is 100c so no fears yet !!
I will take further pics. when i have found the lowest vcore for 3.0Ghz :)
Temps. have not dropped off too much at this vcore with water....but will prove better for higher vcore and higher speeds.

Well just took the side of my case off, seems the reason its so hot atm is the ambient. My 8800gts kicks off so much heat....

Under load now, same settings as previously at 63 on the hottest core with the cpu fan right up. 66 with the fan set to about the middle on the controller (same as above test with hotness)

Think I need to sort out some ducting or something, damn 8800...

It might be worth posting what the CPU Vid shown in coretemp is for your processors guys......mine is 1.2250v.

I notice that yours is 1.3125v PinkFloyd.

You have no arguement here

We don't care. :D
I think the correct term is 'I' not 'we'? have u become some kinda Borg entity?

Do me a favour Easy, don't go out of your way looking for agro, lets just keep the conversations civil, everyone gots a viewpoint and everyone is free to 'politely' express their viewpoint ok?

The Xeon looks really boring yawn, have fun I'm off to find something interesting :)

the gts hsf is like the gtx yeh? some exit vents inside the case, some outside? feel the air coming out the back, it seems quite cool compared to the air coming out the inside vents. you could always cover up a couple of the internal slits, force more hot air out the back vent and lower the ambient inside

Yeah... What does that mean in reality, mines a lower quality chip?
Maybe it is something to yours being a slightly different chip, although I would have thought a q6600 would have required a higher cpuVID than a lower clocked chip :/

Over the next few days I'll see how low I can get the voltage, but first I'm gonna try and get 3GHz without it getting too hot. If that ain't happening on this current cooler then I drop the volts as much as possible to see how low I can run at the current speed (q6700 speed)

Yeh same cooler as far as I am aware, never found the heat coming off of the back was that warm :/ - yet the heatsink itself is quite hot to the touch (not uncomfortably slow, I'm confused since my mates 8800gts is cold to the touch yet is an overclocked card. But then the 880gts in my brother computer is also hot to the touch  )
I'll give that a go and see how it does.

Maybe its time to look at the bigger picture?

Its not just me that have brought the attention to your insessent moaning about quad core.

Do me a favour Easy, don't go out of your way looking for agro, lets just keep the conversations civil, everyone gots a viewpoint and everyone is free to 'politely' express their viewpoint ok??

Thats fine by me.

Calling tech **** just because you deem fit to do so is open to analysis.
Sweeping statements like this without any reasoning will,I'm afraid get questioned here,

In another thread I answered the question about your supposed build for an AVID editing system for a "client"

LOL you still think quad has no place?

I'm glad your don't build PC's on a regular basis for people LOL :D

The Xeon looks really boring yawn, have fun I'm off to find something interesting :)

Now your cover is blown.....You are 13! :D

Anyway....

Just rebooted and dropped my voltage down to 1.225 in bios for ****s and giggles thinking it would even boot.... It did.
Well, its currently sat at full load and has been for the last 5 minutes (wow) which bear in mind I wasn't expecting it to boot with how much this board undervolts, I'm happy with.

Will report back in the later / tomorrow morning! lol

yo floyd, off topic question is that that chick from 2fast2furiouse in your wallpaper? :p

edit: Devon Aoki from sincity etc?

m8 its a ES Q6600.

With regard to the CPUID that varies all over the place. I have noticed this a lot on the 6600 through different batches, certainly doesnt effect overclockability.

Thats great. Looks like my kind of chip.

Keep us updated.
