its just the basic, xf-i ausio mate, costs arround 25quid.

There is no "basic X-Fi" so either someone's misled you and sold you something it's not or you're mistaken. Any chance of taking a photo of it or running Dxdiag and seeing what that reports it as being?

All of the X-Fi cards should work in BF2142.

ive just found on the creative forums, that my card the xfi extreme audio doesnt have xfi at all  its just named that because creative added a few new bits from the xfi series. so basicaly its a piece of **** which needs to be sent back  .

cheers for the help though.

The X-Fi Xtreme Audio DOES have X-Fi and I have the same card working perfectly in BF2142. There's plenty of Xtreme owners on here using it with BF2142 happily.

I think he has the "X-Fi Extreme Audio" which not the same as the X-Fi Xtreme Music that you have. Its a low profile sound card with cutdown features meant for general audio playback.

Insane200, I recommend you send it back and get an Xtreme Music. I have one in my system and it works perfectly with 2142 and all other games.

you do realise the xtreme audio is one model of xfi? there are a few new ones:

xtreme audio
xtreme gamer
xtreme gamer fatality

It is confirmed that the xtreme audio does NOT have hardware EAXHD support or any hardware XFI features at all. It only has software processing which is nowhere near XFI quality. The audio is the one the OP has and it will NOT play EAXHD or XFI hardware games in those modes. You probably have a diff model? the creative audio console displays all xfi cards iirc as an "SB XFI Audio [EC00]" etc.

See my post above.

yeah it's probably playing in software mode not hardware mode and even though the option may be there it doesn't mean you're playing it with EAXHD actually being used because if the card doesn't support it what is there on there to decode EAXHD...nothing.

i will be sending it back, if i had known at the time i would have orderd the better one. tbh i think its a con that they advertise it as xfi. plus from what ive heard out of it so far, my onboard sound is better .

i discovered last week that you need to put you X-Fi card into Gaming mode before you can enable the X-Fi in 2142...and also Unlrra sound option....And what a differenec it makes!

Im using the X-Fi exteme music by the way!
