Xfire problem (think i jynxed it)

Yes mobo is on the latest bios realeased the other day.

Yeah starting to want to sell these now but dont have enough posts for the MM and hate selling things on the bay fue to scammers i always attract.

Just ran one singually again earlier and worked fine, tomorrow going to run the other one by itself for the day and make surecthat works fine again, then will try and sell them if i can find anybody that wants them!

I think 170 would be fair to ask for unlocked ones dont you think?

It would but not sure you would get that much for them outside the mm, not with new ati cards on the horizon. Although i agree with the 7970 advice, (who wouldnt want a sexy 7970? A madman thats who ) i think you should still keep trying to troubleshoot. I also think you should try a different psu before you fork out any money on a new part.

Yeah if the 2nd one still works perfect like the last time i checked tomorrow then i would be tenpted to troubleshoot the problem!
Would rather not have the hassel of selling. Will see anyway matt speak to you tomorrow if your about at like 230ish

Yeah ill be there mate. The offer with my old psu still stands as long as you dont mind covering postage and that. We'll talk about it more tomorrow.

Have you managed to figure out the problem yet banksy? I installed my second 6950 yesterday and all was gong well till I was playing trackmania 2 and the computer froze forcing me to hit the reset button. Tried it again and after 15 minutes or so it did it again. I was running it on max settings and getting about 130 fps so the gpu's were really working overtime with both at 99% usage. I've noticed running in crossfire my temps are 10 degrees up from when I just had the single card installed.

I did a couple of things and it seems fine now. Firstly I reinstalled the game and then I set vsync to on. Runs smoother now at 60fps and the gpu's don't have to work as hard so temps don't get as high. Don't know if it was overheating or not but that seems to have fixed it for me and worth a go to see if it solves your issues

Hello Rob,

Yeah i finally got to the bottom of it and it was a faulty card, i managed to replicate the crashes when running just the one card when i tried for a second time. So ive sent it off today and now have to decide if i want a replacment or a refund and i just cant decide!

Glad your is ok, this freeze was it a full lock up with the screen freezing on a image and the sound looping? Thats what mine was and happend after about 40minute of play time was strange.

Yes Temps will be slightly hotter, my top card was running about 6'c hotter than the bottom but both still stayed under 70'c. Good case airflow is a must with crossfire.

Great you got it sorted out :)

Yes a full lock up with the screen freezing and sound looping. I have benched heaven for a few hours as this uses gpu's to the max and it seems to be fine so I don't know what it was. Was the lock up you experienced just in one game or did it happen in others?

My cards were both overclocked to 880/1350 and temps were hitting 85 whilst running heaven for a few hours. Idle temps are roughly 40. Maybe I'll have to look in to better cooling.
