Hello peoples of the internets.

I have just purchased myself the XFX 4870 1024mb which is on TWO. I just kind of want someone to tell me I did good and that I will notice an improvement in every game ever created and that i havn't just wasted my (almost) birthday cash.

I can live with it if it is noisier than the old 8800 ;), but I had noticed it begin to struggle with anything close to max resolution. Anybody have the XFX to comment on daily use and how it runs.

Phew, the internets has quelled my anguish at parting with the cash. OCUK have already picked it, their storeboys must have nothing to do :)

It will eat you're 8800 as a 5 course meal.

I would have said breakfast or a small snack or something, 5 course meals are pretty big you know :p.

It's far superior though, it'll be a very nice card. Should be over twice as fast as a G80 GTS considering the GT200s are around twice as fast as them and the 48701GB is on par with them.

Yeah I did go a bit over the top. :o:p

I'm seriously considering one to slide in the with the new pc purchase for the wife and she can have my 4850. I have just got to cook her a few more lush dinners and I'm sorted. :D

Ooooh just seen the price drop. Sod it, she can have Fish & Chips now. I'm having it.

I went from an 8800 GTS 320MB to a XFX 4870 1GB (as per sig) because I upgraded to a 22" monitor, 1680x1050. The 8800 GTS 320 had trouble running a fair few games at that resolution at high settings, GRID for example easily hits that memory wall and goes plowing through it. In contrast, I can run most games with 8xAA at 1680x1050 at usually whatever are the highest settings (except for Crysis, obviously, but then I only have the demo for that so eh). Lovely card this is.

Thank you. Exactly what I wanted to hear, same monitor size as well makes it all good.
