XFX 4870 Replacement Cooler

Well I checked mine out fully and I do have that exact same black heat sink on the card :( I think cutting the heat sink down a little might work out but it's made me rethink my options :D

A little too chicken **** to be honest but I'll have a bit of a Google and see what I can come up with!

I had to turn to asking others on trading section of a forum to get the plate. Seems to be a lack of info on this and getting the vrm plate was near impossible since all the shops don't stock that kind of product.

Like suggested before, getting small ram sinks that are decent (not those AC basic looking heatsinks) should do the job as most report just bending the fins out of the way.

I considered cutting down the heatsink for the Akasa Vortexx to fit, but then you're dealing with voiding the warranty on the card as opposed to the cooler.

Personally matey, I would still recommend the Thermalright HR-GT-03. Get it right, with the correct amount of MX-2 or MX-3 (I used MX-2) and you won't even see anything above 50c. I get 30s to 40's all year round, idle and load, and not even with fans on full speed.
It might cost a little more than the Akasa, but it's well worth it. And it looks so nice too. :p It comes with a bag full of metal heatsinks which once stuck on with their self adhesive backing, are VERY solid. Here's some pics of mine when I put it together, so you can get an idea of how it looks. Also, the XFX cards I understand to run hotter than other brands like mine, so perhaps another reason for better cooling.
