Hmm, what are temps like vs the noise, looks like it has a "proper" fan on it, which all the better cards have on them rather than blowers, which are ruddy awful and loud with it.

I don't think most people realised the card had a different cooler, as "random game thats out now" versions tend to be bog standard with the game thrown in.

Tis a shame the bog standard coolers aren't like those, just like memory heat spreaders despite not being effective became the "standard" that people looked for so wouldn't buy memory without heatspreaders, blower fans and exhausting seems to have become the standard also, despite worse temps and higher noises compared to sinks with proper fans on.

Temps are actually very nice. Just checked there and its idling (stock clocks) between 25 and 27 at 45% which is silent at this level and bearable up to 75% in my opinion. Mind you this is the first start so it's fairly cold in my room so I suspect it later maybe somewhere in the region of 30 - 35*C idle. Load temps I'm not sure about yet but I will certainly report back on them tonight. Definitely a card to think about if you're in the market for a 5870.

I think the stock ones look better. had a 4890 with the same fan lay out. fan died after 3 days, card died 2 weeks later. bad omen for me.
Also the red strip looks better

I've played a couple of games with her. Flight Sim X was good. It's more CPU dependant but I noticed that it was a lot smoother and consistent in holding a locked frame rate and a lot faster at loading texures. Colours are nice too. I noticed a huge, and I mean huge, difference in Silent Hunter 5 as I can max that out now but I'm not sure on the frames but it's extremely smooth. I want something "proper" though like BF:BC2 but I've already got that on the PS3 but I'm thinking about trading it in for the PC version. We'll see, but fantastic card. Real competitor to the Vapor X once it's out of deal of the week I think.

My temps stock Sapp - 5870(875 / 1250 Vapor settings) > SPEED - 1138rpm / Fan - 21% / 34'c room temp 19'c at present.
