Hello
I have just assembled my new PC: 790i XFX nforce Ultra SLI + qx9650 CPU + 4x1gb Crucial Ballistix DDR3 2000mhz (9-9-9-28) RAM. I have updated the bios.
Now, theoretically, I should just enable EPP2.0 and get max mhz for the RAM. What I am getting is 1333mhz for the FSB (which is the default for qx9650 I understand?) and 1333mhz for the RAM.
Enabling "expert" settings in the bios and manually setting the frequency to 2000mhz, when I boot the POST screen still shows RAM at 1333mhz. I know there's a limitation with 2000mhz using 4 sticks of RAM (nvidia says the max 4 sticks can work at is 1800mhz) but setting it at 1800mhz doesn't work either, it still reports as 1333mhz.
I wonder if anyone can help?
Thanks
EDIT - CPU-Z shows the RAM SPD info as PC3-10700h (max frequency 667mhz, which it is reporting as the current setting). This is odd as the RAM definitely is PC3-16000
