youve got the black edition, but from what i have been reading the cards are exactly the same the bios's are just different.
is that a 68 on idle??
Your voltage though is 1125 mines 1080

No that is under load with the fan at 100%. Idle it sits around 30ish.

My 24/7 use has the fan at 70%. under load its 70-75ish. depending on the game.

what the shiney red one? how is it the black edition?
the silver ones arent reference

Its the red shiny one yes. Its not the DD version though, its just has the hydrocell tech.

mines FX-797A-TNBC - ver 1.0 (bought at launch at the end of Jan last year)

The DD versions are FX-797A-TDBC

if i was going to spend the extra £70 on a cooler i would have gone with a 7970 :P

It wasn't bought for the DD, it was bought for a 5870 back in the day(£37:eek:), then went onto a 6950>70, now it sits on the DD but I had to purchase a new bracket/brass shim for ~£17.

Probably the best purchase outwith components I have ever made.:D

Hold on you saying 60c idle is fine? Its not mine idles at 28-30c

It would be fine, ideal no, but fine and safe as long as the fan was to hit it's maximum rpm within thermal specs.

CrossFire cards can run that hot@idle, not to mention multiple displays requiring higher idle clocks resulting in higher temps.

Could have been sitting in a roasty small form factor for all I knew as well.

As it is from the pic, nuzik idle clocks are not kicking in, which can be problematic on the 79's so it should run cooler once he sorts it out.

Personally, I didn't like the cooler for it's thermal capabilities, however idle noise is fantastic as it wasn't noticeable at all when all the rest of my fans were switched off, the only other stock custom vendor cooler that could achieve 'noiseless'@stock in my rig was a WindForce cooler.

Again, saying all that, I can't fault it for the £200 paid for the 7950 DD including the Never Settle bundle.:D

:)

Tick Gpu-z's log to file option, minimise it.

Close chrome+AB, wait a few seconds, maximise GPU-z and either visually check the bar has dropped on the core/memory. or check the readout in the GPUz log file.

A bit loud!!? Sounded like a jet plane was trying to fly out of my case every time i got mine running :)

The voltage is physically cut ya have to wire around it with a mod.

Lucky i don't need to use mods and I can change voltage up to 1.3v
It's very loud at about 80% and above but I don't let it get that high.

Cool that saves some time, i guess theyre not all locked then, when i found mine wouldnt go over 1.17v i searched around and lots of people have locked ones, im glad ya got one that isnt. :)

They was a time where all cards was voltage free, then nvidia started locking the 670 amd couple weeks later and followed on. Now I don't think you can buy a voltage free card from 7 series or 6.

These VRM temps are confusing me. I have had them ramped up to 1800 and with each 50mhz raise, they raise in temp by 1c. At 1800 under load they are at 65c.
So far it looks like I can keep going as I have had no issues.

I am only running Heaven though (fresh windows install), Will this be enough to test a memory clock?
