XFX customer support less than helpful

I got a very cheap one, I fired a screwdriver through the void stickers on mine, lost my patience taking them off without breaking the seal so it's tough **** for me if it bangs.

XFX strikes again. Whist it is a shame you can't get the reciept, XFX would know for sure that the card would still be in warranty (as PGI points out).

Iirc, without a receipt(registered or not), XFX are not legally binded to do anything being the manufacturer(they didn't enter a contract with the end buyer), it's the retailer that's bound by law to deal with the problem.

Telling them it was a gift(I know the op had to as such) also throws it up in the air as the op never entered into contract with XFX either.

I'm not being harsh, just in case it's interpreted that way, just pointing out information helpful to op.

Agreed Tommy and I was just looking for pluses from the OP's side of things. Fallen out with family/girlfriend or whatever the situation, I would be trying to get that receipt, as the OP has an expensive paper weight at present.

I still say avoid XFX purely because of the last situation (not looked but I bet that link is the case I am talking about). They also closed tickets and lied and a big forum like OcUK will send out the message that "XFX are poor on RMA".

Had a nightmare experience with another etailer and an xfx gtx 280 that went faulty. Basically xfx said it was between me and the company whom id bought the card from. After a few weeks of wrangling, haggling and a faulty replacement. I finally managed to get a working replacement card. The shop was hard enough to deal with, but xfx support just didnt want much to do with it tbh. An attitude that has ensured ill never purchase another of their products again.

I have to admit i had trouble with XFX when i tried to send a faulty gpu back. It was enough to convince me never to buy or recommend a XFX gpu again. I have an XFX psu, it will be the last XFX product i ever buy. I got it through ocuk though so im hoping if i do have any problems the rma will go smoothly.

The company i purchased the card from are probably ocuk's largest uk competitor. My faulty card was a gtx 280. They eventually replaced it with a 275. A customer service rep told me over the phone that they had no 280's in stock. Despite their website showing them as in stock. To add insult to injury, the first replacement 275 was faulty. I eventually got a working one but it took ages and a small fortune in phone calls.
