Hi

did a fresh install of vista on this mobo. All was going well. Downloaded some updates for vista and after they were installed restarted. Then came the quick blue screen and it rebooted continously. I switched off. When I tried to restart I got a intermittant bleep and the LCD readout was showing
C1. I removed the mem of which I have 4GB PC2 8500 SLI ready. I move the jumper to clear BIOS refiited the mem and the fault was the same. I repeated the procedure this time only fitting 2GB and it started up. I reinstalled vista and refitted the other 2GB and it would not boot up. I fitted 3GB of mem and it booted up.

Runing now ok on 3gb any reason why this fault has appeared.

Any help appreciated.

Board only 4 months old never OC'd.

Thanks

Jorel

I don't know f it's the same issue but a mate has an Asus motherboard based on the 780i chipset He has the same problem and said it was a known issue (at least with the Asus) with 4 x OCZ RAM. It could be a 780i issue rather than one specific to Asus?

Had the same problem with an Striker II Extreme 790i Ultra, XP would install and boot fine with 4gb but Vista would only install and boot with 2gb.
After googling it if you install and boot with the 2gb and download SP1 it fixes it on the 790i might be the same on 780i. Its a Vista problem more than an Asus one.
