I have a XFX 8800 Ultra xxx Edition which has now started to overheat. It hits 80c in seconds and freezes my pc. I have tried it in another pc and it does the same.

I contacted XFX for support and they have refused to help me as they said the serials and numbers on the card i give them are not theirs. The card is marked xfx, all box accessories etc are marked XFX and the supplies i got it from is a large reputable one who said it is XFX.

So the supplier want me to send it to them for a replacement, and not an xfx one.

Can you take a picture of the card to show to us? Does it have any XFX markings on it?

Have you overclocked the card? I can come to dublin to swap it for my 2900XT anytime you want.

The only XFX I have ever owned was a XXX edition and it was soon clear to me that the card was clocked beyond its limits.

I don't think they test their pre-overclocked cards very well at all.

That said, what's your case cooling like?

It came in the xfx box, has xfx on the cooler and card.

I have 2 120mm scyth on the case side blowing in, 3 more on case front blowing in and one on top as exhaust.

It would freeze an eskimos nuts in there

Screw XFX then, send it to the supplier and get it changed out, the notoriusly bad XFX RMA team strikes again.

exactly i will never buy from them again, hopefully i can get an evga overclocked one from the supplier instead.

XFX were bloody useless no help and dont want to know

XFX are pretty much renowned for their horrible customer service, that's why OcUK stopped stocking them.

I'd avoid them in future and stick with exceptional Nvidia partners like BFG and EVGA, even Leadtek etc. are awesome if you want cheapies instead of pre-overclocked stuff.

I bought the card a few months back and only got a chance to use it last week as i was waiting on other parts, so now i have to see whats will happen as its not a doa even though it was its first time been used.

I had three XFX cards die on me in a row, all had BGA soldering faults, admittedly this was a while ago and was 6600GT's!

it was brand new from a big supplier, xfx want me to send pics of the card, and the supplier want it back but as its not a doa it will be sent back to xfx who said its not an xfx.

Don't worry about it, its the shops problem when they get it back not yours.

yeah, hopefully as its not in stock anymore i can get an evga black pearl one instead as right now it is the same price i paid for the xfx

I thought usually under their support system there is an option to register your product?

Basically after you enter the serial no. of the product, it will show up on your account what component it is etc. Then you can proceed on to ask for a RMA etc.
