at home, you?
so, been tryin to rma a card with xfx directly as the company who supplied this card (5850) from my spare rig, is now bust, so, im assuming the manufacturer now has to deal with the warantee side of things, so here my comunication starts

[ 11/3/2012 10:49:29 PM] card has started to artifact and crash any computer it has been tried in (4 different systems)

[SHAUN_T 11/5/2012 9:59:56 AM] Hi Kiel, thanks for your message. Do you ever experience these graphical issues immediately upon booting the system up, or do they only ever appear during use? What temperatures are you receiving from the graphics card when idle and under load? What are you doing with the system when you encounter these graphical issues and crashes? Kind regards, Shaun.

[ 11/5/2012 2:34:43 PM] hi, yes there are artifacts on the screen on boot up, and the system locks up and crashes as soon as i start either a game or benchmarking tool, have not managed to gauge the temperature

[SHAUN_T 11/6/2012 10:34:05 AM] Hi Kiel, thanks for the quick response and extra information. Unfortunately, as you have experienced these graphical issues from boot and also when tested in multiple systems, the graphics card would appear to be faulty. The warranty within Europe is usually the responsibility of the reseller, but you would need to contact them to enquire about any remaining. Kind regards, Shaun.

[ 11/6/2012 10:50:47 AM] hi, unfortunately the online retailer is now out of business who i purchased the card from

[SHAUN_T 11/6/2012 11:47:51 AM] Hi Kiel, thanks for your message. Unfortunately if the reseller is now out of business, there isnt anything more XFX can do in this case. It would appear time for you to consider an upgrade to your system, so let us know if you require any future purchase advice. Kind regards, Shaun.

:confused: i thought that the manufacturer would have had to sort this out now that the retailer is out of business??

Man, that is disgusting. I would have thought the same as you and so long as you have proof of purchase (a receipt) they should sort out any RMA.

just replied to them with this

11/6/2012 11:58:15 AM] so there is no way xfx can cover their own warrantee? if the business is no longer trading, i would have assumed then it would fall under the manufacturer to resolve this

Perhaps they do what msi do in this situation and let another authorised reseller deal with the warranty on their behalf?

They should have measures in place for this happening like msi do.

If they keep refusing get trading standards or something involved.

Xfx are just damaging their reputation by doing this it's a false economy not to replace it.

Ouch - not good. I am a current XFX user I am selling my card (unrelated to this story) but as a new XFX card was a possibility it looks like it is no longer in the running. Poor show tbh - I am having the same problem with my front door, which is faulty within the warranty period but the fitter has gone bust and the manufacturer says the responsibility is not with them. Don't these people realise the damage they do ?

in the future buy Gigabyte products, they deal with warranty claims in 2-3 days & are based in the UK too.

Gigabyte will be 1st choice for my next PC build. :)

XFX are complete scum same thing happened to me

It was even the same scumbag answering my emails they must only have a few people work there, I guess that's all they need to tell you to get lost.

Qoute from my experience

[SHAUN_T 8/15/2012 10:28:59 AM] Hi Richard, thanks for your message. As has already been said, within Europe the warranty is ONLY with the reseller, no direct warranty with XFX so repair/replacement is absolutely not possible unfortunately.

Here is another one:
[SHAUN_T 8/14/2012 10:54:04 AM] Hi Richard, thanks for your message. The warranty does not apply within Europe, so Im not too sure where you saw this information when purchasing the product. We are offering you a discount off a new graphics card because your reseller isnt helping out. Kind regards, Shaun.

That has to be against your statutory rights, surely? Not on, XFX are crap and this is why i'd never buy any of their products.

That's the most pointless warranty ever.

Perhaps ask in CS here? They deal with XFX (though I notice they no longer stock XFX GPU's?).

They should at least be able to advise you on where you stand, perhaps even give you contact details of a local rep?

I wouldn't touch XFX again, they completely plaster their cards with 'warranty void if removed' stickers that fall off with a little heat.

People wonder why XFX have such a bad reputation

I can't understand why they think it's ok to treat people like crap.

They nearly put me off pc gaming for good I had assumed warranty is a given and my first real pc card broke within 6 weeks and they told me to get lost.

I have been really impressed with msi so I will be sticking with them for now on where ever possible.

Wow how inflexible.

Not covering their own warranty even with proof of purchase no matter whether the reseller is in business or not does not exactly lend themselves to be a brand worth considering.

My first card was XFX and at the time the warranty was decent (and the packaging looked funky).

Hope you get somewhere with this perhaps contact their US head office rather than the UK office, surely they would not like to be looked on as you have portrayed them.
