xfx warantee

in the future buy Gigabyte products, they deal with warranty claims in 2-3 days & are based in the UK too.

Gigabyte will be 1st choice for my next PC build. :)

This is exactly why I went Gigabyte because of the rave reviews of customer service.

If its a uk product and they have a uk office then get onto trading standards. They have to offer at least 1 yr warranty even if the reseller goes bust BY LAW.

If its imported then that wont apply of course.

How long have you had the product for, was it a competitor you bought from? Or just a local corner computer shop that went bust? Also do you have the original invoice?

ok heres the latest reply from them
[SHAUN_T 11/6/2012 3:47:50 PM] Hi Kiel, thanks for your message. In some instances XFX could do what is possible to help out, but in this case there isnt anything we can do unfortunately. Sorry about this Kiel, but let us know if you need any help in the future. Regards, Shaun.

had the card for about 10 months, but have moved house twice in that space of time due to landlords being idiots about pets, so dont have the invoice anymore but anyway, it was bought from another site, not here, but surely due to them having the serial number they should be able to check it all out and help me out.

will NOT be purchasing anything from them again

XFX are terrible with RMA. I sent back a card because it wasn't running at stock speeds, had to be underclocked by 50MHz to be stable. They sent the card back EXACTLY as I sent it, still didn't work as they advertise it to, and guess what...yes, warranty had expired after it was returned to me. I will NEVER buy XFX products again.

They also force you to go through the original seller, which I assume from how they dealt with my RMA is just a way of wasting your time.

Also the fans on their PSU's are bad from what I have read.

This is disgusting. A warranty is a warranty surely. No matter where your based the manufacturer should sort it.

You have had it 10 months? By law all goods are covered for 12 months, by the manufacturer. Unless for whatever reason XFX deal with things differently.

This is shocking that XFX cannot help you out here. However, you should have purchased from us, you wouldn't have had any of this hassle. :p

Sales pitch and a half.

Hence I went for EVGA. Yeh pain in the arse posting to germany cost me £25 but I had a brand new model up 670 before I even sent my faulty card back.

Not bad really a EVGA GTX 670 FTW for £250. :)

I was going to go with an XFX 7970 before i got the 670 very very very glad I didn't now as i bought it back from canada. Wouldn't like to have RMA'd that 1 back to there.

What are you supposed to do though if the business goes bust it isn't like you are going to waste your time trying to take xfx to court over a £100 graphics card.

Also yes could have bought it from overclockers uk but if they go out of business 6 months later it would be the same situation.

Personally I think the best thing to do is just to buy a decent brand and avoid the xfx scammers altogether.

Would be nice to have it resolved though. It should have 12 months warranty, therefore the customer shouldn't have to pay for a new one. XFX should repair/replace/credit. Not reject, as that is against warranty terms.

heres the latest

[ 11/8/2012 12:07:50 AM] could you explain why in this case nothing can be done?

[SHAUN_T 11/8/2012 9:35:41 AM] Hi Kiel, thanks for your message. Firstly, there is no direct XFX warranty with the customer, it is only between XFX and the distributer and a card this old would not have anymore warranty unfortunately. Kind regards, Shaun.

[ 11/8/2012 2:50:01 PM] the card is 10 months old, im pretty shocked that such a big company deals with this in such a manner, this is no way a reflection on yourself, you are simply doing your job, but from what iv now read up on, xfx have the worst record for helping customers, and i will be contacting trading standards over this, as all electrical items must be provided with at least 12 months warrantee, this one lasting 10 months from new.

absolute joke

You wouldn't need to go to court, phone consumer advice.. This is shocking on XFX's part, I know I'll not be buying any of their products, rather spend a little extra.

If you purchased the card on your credit card, contact the credit card company. Aren't they liable under the consumer credit act when the trader goes out of business?

I don't know what the precedence is with suppliers going out of business and then manufacturers being liable, but under the sale of goods act, the contract is between the consumer and the reseller, not the manufacturer.

Shocking service though from XFX and re-enforces my policy of using only 'proper' online retailers for the purchases that matter.

WARRANTY. WARRANTY. WARRANTY!!!!!

Sorry - that's been niggling at me for ages :p

You actually have a 2 year warranty: http://www.eccnl.eu/page/en/themes/kopen-in-de-eu

That's the duration XFX should give anyway. I'll see if I can find some more helpful links you slap XFX in the face with :)

I have a XFX PSU and seriously wished I hadn't after seeing the OPs warantee problems. Keep on at them and get TS involved.
