Got my XFX 8800GTX over a week ago for OcUK. And since the day I installed it into my PC, I get a high pitch whine, from the card, once I power down my PC. I'm hoping its just coming from the fan on the card.

I'm just wondering what you guys would do, is it worth me RMA'ing it and sending it back to OcUK and asking for a replacement? Or would you put up with it. The sound isn't present when gaming or whilst using the PC, you only hear it as the fan cycles down once the PC is shut off.

It's normal as far as I know. The whine is because the card isn't getting enough power, so it's basically a warning but as your shutting down your computer it shouldn't cause a problem.

Thanks guys.

Seriously though, its NOT getting enough power??? Is a 600w OCZ Stealth extreme not enough to power the card???

There's plenty of power (I'm running mine fine on a 400W shuttle psu), but on shutdown expect that the motherboard sends a signal to the PSU which stops the power.

Exactly that - as the machine shuts down there is still enough power left in the circuit to set off the low power warning horn (you can get it by only plugging in one of the 8 pin power connectors if you want to hear it at full blast!) - I guess a better built card would have a delay built into the alarm to stop this - but hey... it was cheap :D
