XMP - before or after cpu overclock?

need a touch more info.

Such as CPU/board and if you are fiddling with the bclk.

As if you set say XMP on 2400Mhz RAM it sets a 24X multiplied by the BCLK.

So if your bclk is no longer 100Mhz then the 24X of it could throw the XMP out of whack and not work.

Say you set a 1.25X bclk strap, 24 X 125mhz (3000Mhz) is way more than the XMP timings/voltages (example being for 2400Mhz RAM) are designed for and you would want to adjust stuff manually or change the 24X to a lower multiplier to try and bring the RAM back to its rated XMP speed.

Ok mate. I haven't attempted it yet as I'm just trying to get it all straight in my head.

At the moment I have running stock:

6700k
Gigabyte gaming 7
Corsair vengeance 3000mhz
