XMP Profile enabled causes errors in memtest

Hi,

My system has been a bit unstable so i decided to perform memtest to see if the issue was ram related. I have since discovered than my ram is not stable when set to XMP Profile 1 - which is dissapointing.

I have since run memtest for 8 passes (12 hours of testing) with no XMP profile selected at the standard 2133Mhz and it passes no problem.

Can some tell me if there are some additional settings i need to change to get the ram stable? My understanding was the XMP Profile was meant to mean it would be stable on that profile and change all the settings needed for you?

I have tried increasing VCCIO to 1.25v and System Agent Voltage to 1.3v and this didn't fix it.

By the way - I have no CPU overclock and my cooling is average with temps hitting 80c when gaming. So i dont want to OC the CPU at the moment.

***Any help on how to get the ram stable at 4000Mhz on XMP Profile 1 would be greatly appreciated?***

PC Spec below:

CPU: Intel i9 9900K
GPU: nVidia 2080Ti Founders Edition
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4 32GB 4000MHz CL19 CMW32GX4M4K4000C19
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 M GAMING
Storage: Samsung 970 PRO M.2 1TB + 860 PRO SSD 4TB

You shouldn't have to do anything, thats the whole point of the 4000Mhz rating. Why don't you just return it and get a replacement or refund because its clearly not doing what it says on the tin, so to speak, is it out of warranty?

If so or you just don't want to return it, use the Gigabyte Easy Tune software, I assume it came with your Motherboard software drivers, and use the memory overclocking facility in that, it's really good, applies all the correct timings from the desktop then reboot to apply them.

...and those temps for gaming are crazily high. My 9900K @4.8Ghz with a Dark Rock 4, never goes above 60c and spends most of its time in the 40-55c range, depending on the game. What cooler are you using?

Yes thats how XMP 'should' work but this is an especially high frequency and i guess my mother board might be applying some other settings automatically to make it unstable. Some reviews say they had to increase voltage on VCCIO and VCCSA to get it working at 4000Mhz, so i thingk XMP is not fool proof. I have also since noitced my exact ram is not on the QVL support list for my mother board.

I did some more testing last night and found that 3600Mhz is stable with manual settings applied. I will try and push for 4000Mhz tonight with manual settings.

I was just wondering if anyone with similar high speed ram had any advice on BIOS settings etc to get it working?

Regarding Temps - My build is mATX and i have a Noctua NH-U9S Ultra-Quiet Slim CPU cooler, so its quite small. Your Dark Rock 4 is much bigger so temps will be better.
